What's up with that? Did he build an actual clock from components he got from Radio Shack, or did he just disassemble an already existing clock, and put it back together in a different form inside of a box? One's kind of impressive, the other not so much. From the pictures I've seen, the thing doesn't resemble a clock at first glance. I'm used to hands, a round face, numbers, or a digital version with digital numbers, not something that just ticks, ticks, ticks off the seconds and doesn't make people instantly think, 'oh, that's a nice looking homemade clock.'
Back when I was in HS this wouldn't have been anything at all, but what was the kid thinking in a post 9-11, post Columbine world where everyone in schools are probably tense and walking on eggshells the minute they get on the school campus. Especially when you have a name like Ahmed Mohammed. People are going to jump to conclusions, which is maybe what Ahmed wanted to happen. He's got his name in the press and even a White House invite. Good questions as to why the teachers didn't evacuate if they felt it was an actual bomb. As usual, the cops overreacted to what is at worst a hoax. From Sarah Palin's comments on the issue I've learned that some 7 year old once got sent home for biting his Pop-Tart in such a way to make it resemble a gun (ridiculous) and some high school kids got in trouble for bringing guns an ammo onto the campus when coming directly to school from a hunting trip. I get that it was all in their pickmeup trucks and they probably had no bad intentions, but still, drop your guns and ammo off at home before coming to school.
I hate, hate, hate, ever coming to anything resembling even the smallest of agreement with Sarah Palin, but it looks like Obama got played on this.
I'm so, so, so happy I'm long out of school and don't have to deal with any of this.
