I dig it. It's always been a slow burn show, way slower than BB. There's no meth or anything fueling "mayhem".
I love seeing Jimmy/Saul in his modern life.

I enjoy 90% Mike story, 10% Jimmy story. When they join again, look out.

Episode 1 delivered. Mikes not waiting for Gus to come to him. Is nacho still alive? I can't remember what happened last year. I remember tuco crazy 8 and hector had some angle but I can't remember if nanco made it. I really like that guy. Hope he's not dead.
I need to watch some recap videos on YouTube to remember where the hell we are with things.

I'm not digging this season so far.
1. yes, Chuck is obsessive, but his plan for getting Jimmy to come back and steal the tape--it just comes off ridiculous. It makes the point that Chuck is obsessive, but, at the same time, it undercuts one of the show's fundamental tenets: that Chuck is some kind of genius. He is not acting like a legal or a strategical genius this season--he's not making Vince Gilligan look like much of one either.
2. Mike's story has been tedious. I've said it before; I'll say it again: slow building tension is great, but watching Mike watch other people is not slow building tension; it's boredom personified. and just showing me Gus Fring at the end of the stakeout doesn't justify it either.
/melt.

I really don't think this is a fair analysis and Vince Gilligan's shows tend to really need the full season to develop. Better Call Saul is much more serialized than Breaking Bad was too.

With apologies for being persnickety, I don't think "fair" was the word you wanted. It's totally fair for me to take issue with this season's writing.

I think you're being very nitpick-y. Chuck made his brother practice law under a different name, that's a pretty big blow.

I agree with Mr. Good man on both points. Mike's story has been FAR too tedious. The only upside is that some real shit will.go down later on in the season, but come on give me some action. It's a crime drama, no?

I don't think I'd call it a crime drama.
more like a time drama.
I still dig the slow burn.

Yeah, it's definitely not a crime drama.
I'd place more in the hard drama category.

So apparently Gus didn't take the satchel of cash from dude because he spotted Jimmie spying on dude. I wonder now what sort of trouble having witnesses watching destroy the tape will bring. Chuck is a massive tool treating Jimmy the way he does. With no mention of him in BB I wonder what will become of Chuck. I assume he dies at some point but maybe he just disowns jimmy? And Kim? No mention of her in BB either.

This show is literally the only one I've watched, besides Vikings, for several years. Like that wit.
Used to watch Walking Dead back when it was good...stopped watching after the Guv bit the dust. Ready for Carrrlll to be gone.
*Ok no...forgot about Trailer Park Boys.

Yeah, it's definitely not a crime drama. I'd place more in the hard drama category. Yeah drama and or dark comedy. They took the kernel of Breaking Bad and applied it to Saul...good man battling w/himself and the world.
