i told my son that unless he really knows what he wants to do in life.. figure it out then go to school for it.. just dont go casue thats what everyone else does.
for most people the only thing college guarantees is debt.

WF is great. Just shop smart there. thats my view. no store is perfect.. far from it. you got to figure shit out and get it done. whole foods has stuff very few other stores have.. and ive said this before, ive found certain processed prepackaged foods cheaper at WF than at woodmans which is very very cheap employee owned regional chain that dont even take credit cards to reduce costs

Leaving school was one of the better decisions I have made. My loan debt is pretty minimal.

seems like finance degrees and engineering degrees set you up to make some good money.

I left MI after one semester and didn't return for the second because I didn't think paying them another $7000 was really worth it. Great decision. I'm glad that I checked it out at least so when I'm old I don't have the regret of having never pursued a career in the music industry. Sometimes things are not what you thought they would be once you get there.

I read something about how back when you went to college lordk people could work part time and get by paying as you go. Now someone would need to work 80 hours a week

Now someone would need to work 80 hours a week fore sure.. in 1983 i got some pell grants and maybe 1500 in loans and lived on that.. sure i ate popcorn alot but the booze was cheap as well. one bar had all you can drink rail drinks on thurs for 2.00 so much cheaper today its a giant commitment to future cash flows for most. i couldnt even imagine a full time type job. when i went back to finish school in 1991 or so i worked for a purchasing manager at Birchwood meats and set my own hours and how many i wanted to work based on my school. it was nice.

they are basically a giant scam.. get the money for almost nothing charge you and if you default who pays? the gov. the gov should just cut out the middleman. save lots of loot the student loan debt bubble may be the next big boom/bust we see like the sub prime/mortgage backed derivative fiasco.

The student loan debt bubble is in the trillions. The biggest bubble yet. Scary to think about.
Plus the fact that it is keeping a whole generation of people from buying houses and starting families

Plus the fact that it is keeping a whole generation of people from buying houses and starting families I really think it is as well. What happens when this generation reaches retirement age? Something has to give.

I have about 5 years to pay off mine and Legs' student loans. I wouldn't have any if I wasn't an idiot...
My folks covered undergrad...aside from the scholarships I worked my ass of for and the 3 years of room and board I didn't have to pay because I was an RA.
But I took loans for grad school with the intent of paying them back with my reimbursements from work...well unfortunately, I didn't save very much of my work reimbursements...now I'm paying loans...
