Obama made his remarks before he even knew what exactly happened. He is just using a tragedy to push his agenda. Also, ever notice how he only makes these types of comments when mass shooting happen? These types of shootings only account for a half of a percentage of the total gun homicides that occur annually in this country. Over half of the gun homicides are due to gang violence, many of which in occur in his home city of Chicago which has some of the strictest gun laws in the country. Odd he never addresses that situation. Your statement is pointless. The implication is that because the president has "an agenda" (a word you only chose for its pejorative connotations), he should not push his point whenever he receives additional evidence is support of his position. but that's the kind of logic the right gives us these days: don't address gun violence ever unless you are going to address it constantly and particularly when it happens in your hometown (though i've always heard the president's hometown is in kenya, so i'm not sure what chicago has to do with this). |

His position is wrong. It's not the guns. It's the people. And I don't mean people in general. I mean the specific individuals that do the acts.

The media must stop full page covers of psycho faces as stupid people think it is cool and want to be famous too. How about a hood over their face.

I went to a gun show in AZ last fall and those people just want to make a sale and will sell guns and bulk ammunition to anyone, no questions asked!

In Chicago 1 in 5 guns were traced back to 4 stores in surrounding counties and when interviewing people arrested for illegal gun possession researchers found that most guns were given by or bought from friends and family members who had originally purchased the guns legally. So even in the case of Chicago, Obama's plan to curb gun violence by limiting access to guns overall is still a perfectly sound position regardless of the specific crime he focuses on.
I don't really think we should ban guns though, I just think the laws need to become a bit more unified across the country and there needs to somehow be more scrutiny in the secondary market.

Do you ever worry about being shot? I don't worry about my self being shot, no, I worry about loved ones going to school and being shot on campus. I am always very alert at movie theaters now too |
