My bike mechanic gets a new mtn bike every year and just sells the old one. I might try to get in on that in the next year or two. Figure I could probably get a year old top of the line bike for the price of a new entry level one.

I'm just worried about a used full suspension what if I miss a frame crack or some shit. That's why you should ask to have it checked out by your LBS.

I ride a hard tail with a shitty 100 mil fork on it so I'm not a suspension expert but I'd say 160mm up front and 140 in the back is probably big enough for pretty much anything.

If you are primarily bombing hills you want at least 140 on the front and 6 inches in the back.

That's the plan yeah. I still have my old Gary fisher hard tail with a decent front fork for anythung else.

The mechanic dude told me he's ridden a ton of bikes and likes the trek remedy the best. Giant trance is a good all around bike, maybe look at the reign if you want to do more lift serviced stuff.

Yeah Giant seems to have a lot of options that aren't retarded expensive. Been looking at those.
Looked up cannondale the other day for the first time in over a decade. $12k for their top of the line downhill. Holy fuck.

I'd have three or four different mtn bikes if I could afford it. Right now I'm just trying to get a new fork and get another year or two out of it. I haven't even been mtn biking much lately. Just fixie.

I'm going to start riding again soon since I got some of my mobility back. No trail riding. I'm looking to part out my bike and buy a 29er if all goes well.

Taking a shower with road rash is not fun.
I want to get another hardtail but with 27.5 wheels and a big fork. The trails close to me just don't require full suspension unless your old or just have shitty technique. I see guys at the trails on 3k dollar bikes and I'm passing them. Plus I figure if I can continue to build my skills on a ht, I'll be destroying shit once I can afford a full squish.

Chris King, but I'm likely taking that with me, along with my bars, stem, seat post and saddle, and my crank set and derailleur.

I'm no bike expert, but if I'm dropping cash on a quality used bike I'm doing what I do for cars. Taking it to a mechanic for a pre-purchase inspection figuring they'll see something I'd miss.

It's a titanium hard tail, and it's 20". Too big.

For the suspension, for sure. I can evaluate everything else pretty well. If the wheels are true, brakes are in good shape and it shifts through all the gears without drops or noise, the previous owner probably took good care of it.

The thing is, though. If I buy it at Dicks I build my credit. I'll check CL anyway. Thanks.
