Political correctness? Did the US not create and fund Osama bin Laden and jihadism to counter the Soviets in Afghanistan? White guilt? Sounds like you're stretching and trying to avoid the topic by attacking the messenger instead of the message. Not effective. I'm neither Catholic or Jewish; guilt just isn't part of my psyche, though being honest about what's what is. Again, ineffective response. What "real threat" is it that I am not recognizing? The biggest threat to my life is getting hit by a crazy car, taxi or combi driver while I'm out and about. I have absolutely zero fear of dying because of an act of terrorism or having a foreign country rain bombs down on me, which if you're the one being bombed is indistinguishable from what you consider terrorism. You say you have no fear of being shot but instead have a fear of jihadists. Who's really not recognizing the real threat and who's living in irrational fear of an unlikely event happening to them because some pundit and/or chicken hawk tells them they should be afraid? Very afraid. Did you see that chart that Lerner posted the other day comparing deaths in the US by crime to deaths by terrorism? If you have no fear of getting shot, rationally you should have far less fear of dying at the hands of a jihadist terrorist. When's the last time an act of terrorism struck Ocean Beach? San Diego? California? How 'bout a murder or death by gun? Keep swallowing what your fellow chicken hawks and war pigs are feeding you and stay afraid of things and people that are different than you. And try to come up with something far more convincing then P.C. and white guilt. Yawn. You can do better than that.

So what? I'm sure in the Middle East your counterpart posts videos of flag waving fundamentalist Christians. Extremists trying to convince the less paranoid among us that it's the evil others who are extremists out to kill us all. So easy to instead of looking at a situation rationally to just paint the others with a broad brush and believe they're all extremists, instead of realizing that most reject extremism. You unthinking extremists should all go to an isolated island and duke it out while leaving the rest of the world to the majority who are rational thinkers who far outnumber the paranoid. Since the neo-cons have already armed, trained and funded the Islamic extremists you only need worry about arming and training yourselves. No being a chicken hawk and sending others to do your fighting for you.  |

The crowd this appeals to doesn't really respond to rationality in the first place. Just throw out some key words to appeal to their emotions and, yee-haw, all good. As for the Paper Tiger thing, most Patriotic Americans who view America as superior in most every way share this opinion, the reality is we're scared not only of Russia but their influence, always have been fear has motivated us into most of our conflicts.... Fear of Russian Influence, which is funny coming from the country who kills, blows up, and treads on people more than anyone else for about the last 75 years.

The great Irony is, by several accounts Russia had a hand in the American Civil War that favored America, thogh it was under the Czar. Russians started huge Revolutions.

People, war is no joke, this shit is real, when I was with my ex, a lot of my time was spent with her mother in the ole psych ward, she tried to off herself (and I wouldn't tell anyone this if it wasn't real) because all she heard was bombs dropping from her younger days in Pristine, now Albania during the 'War in Kosovo.' War is real (lolcano, poo, wally), let us all hope as Americans that it never hits this soil.. FOR REAL
