turns out the working class didn't want handouts. they wanted jobs. you have to respect that. they want jobs handed to them. This is truly the case. I've never really been well employed and I have been fired from every job I've ever had. I've always had to create a job for myself, either dealing dr00gs or selling wookrocks and soon it will be Tacos and burgers. No one has ever handed me a fucking thing. Shit I can't even get food stamps because drug felonies. But that doesn't stop me from being a job creator.

you Libs brought this on all of us. you know this right? you created the the Trump voting base. i hope you're happy. You gotta be kidding. I really never know if your statements are part of an elaborate character you play in political/current event discussions or it's the real deal. Either way it seems as though you have a tentative grasp on politics and can rarely defend your position when actually challenged without resorting to lol or a half-baked version of something you heard in Poli Sci 101. ^ This Some interest in the topics mixed in with just enough knowledge and terminology with a healthy amount of humor to fill in the gaps + coy "you know, you just won't admit it" or "you know so I won't spell it out for you" = typical post that tries to sound like it's saying something but usually can't stand up to scrutiny when questioned or challenged

They want Trump to bring back jobs lost decades ago that no longer exist, they want unnecessary and unneeded jobs created just to make themselves feel useful. Manufacturing isn't coming back, ever. The US has never been more productive than it is right now, without needing those people, so what exactly do these people want jobs in?

He's the face of our country and we look pretty stupid today. Yup. Just got back from the French cultural center after hearing a band. Topic of conversation from the Frogs and other nationalities there backs up Frodo's post. In addition to the S. American channels I watched the BBC, CNN International, and the bit I could understand from the Italian channel today for reaction and it's all pretty much the same whenever the man on the street is asked for their opinion. Same thing happened right after the 2004 re-election of Bush. It's not that the US is the only country that elects total asshats that makes the country look stupid. It's that the US is the largest, most well known country to do so, so when a guy like Trump gets elected the world lets out a collective "Huh? Really? What the fuck is going on over there that they'd vote in an asshat like Trump?" We've got asshats who run for office here as well. It's just that it's such a small country that no one else in the world notices and the asshats are on a relative scale based on the size of the countries being compared.

The sad fact of the matter is US companies no longer need large labor forces to be profitable and no company is gonna create jobs and pay people just for the hell of it, US workers have a right to be pissed, but they should be pissed at capitalism and pissed at anti-union, anti-education, anti-social safety net politicians.

I must not be the only one who notices since betterweather said pretty much the same thing as well as saulgoodman several times before. I'll take your post to mean I'm in good company with those guys who I consider to be pretty smart and knowledgeable and willing to back up what they say with thought out, detailed posts instead of yuks and lol's. It's not that big of a deal, just an observation and what I, and others, pretty much expect on these types of threads.

I'd love to see him pull it off, but how exactly is Trump going to bring factories and jobs back to the US when capitalism dictates that corporations are going to move production where the cost of labor and overall production is the least expensive so that they can provide the greatest value to shareholders?
All Trump is providing is talk and hope and it's lapped up by those who either like the sound of 'it's all about jobs' but when asked can't be bothered with the details of "how?", or are so desperate since the corporations moved their jobs overseas they're at the point where they'll hope even if it makes no sense to do so because they have nothing else.

If Trump can get an infrastructure project off the ground i'm all for it and will happily back the plan 100%, I'm not sure how he's going to do it without raising taxes on the wealthy and vastly expanding Gov't spending though. If he cared about bringing real, lasting jobs though, he would be promoting the idea of worker collectives, because when employees become the owners, they tend not to outsource or automate themselves.

Talk about manipulating a demographic to vote for you by distracting them from the real culprits responsible for their current lack of work or lack of decent pay. Don't blame it on the companies who moved the factories and jobs to countries with cheap sources of labor. Blame the Mexicans whose farming jobs were outsourced due to NAFTA and followed their outsourced jobs north of the border. As if family loving Mexicans really wanted to leave their families behind to live 30 in an apartment and be exploited by people paying them shit wages. These companies are fucking workers on both sides of the border and then telling the displaced worker not to blame them, but to blame their fellow working class counterparts. Management gets nice bonuses for slashing labor and production costs from shareholders who are delivered greater dividends and R.O.I.'s while guys like Trump take advantage of the situation and manipulate the working class further with what will likely be hollow promises to bring their jobs and entire factories back and make America great again. #RipOff

It's amazing how easily the bullshit is swallowed. Trump's going to build giant walls, round up and deport millions of people with a new deportation/police force, but he's not going to raise your taxes, in fact he'll cut your taxes. Just don't Cavuto him or his supporters and ask how it's all going to be paid for if not through taxes because they won't admit that the Government would need to borrow massive amounts of money from China or elsewhere to do so and instead tell you that Trump will get Mexico to pay for it based on shoddy logic and misunderstanding of what a trade deficit is.
So easy to manipulate people.

Edit to an earlier comment about World opinion towards Trump winning. Not everyone thinks the US looked pretty stupid. I've seen reports from the BBC in Moscow showing that Trump has Yuge support from the people over there. Bigly.
