the gap between the evil and the lesser of two evils is too great now.

Well folks, let's just all hope that Joe Biden isn't the democratic candidate. I assumed that running Biden was going to give us Trump round 2 the first time around and I'm even more convinced of that now. Any poll you can find shows that Biden is extremely unpopular. The democratic establishment is going to push to run him anyway because it's certain that he will continue the corruption that has put our country in such a terrible spot to begin with. The lesser of two evils position is so tired and a proven failure that I'm DONE with that bullshit. If we keep voting like that it's going to send a message that we accept the corruption and want more of it. Imo we have to try a different approach. That's what I'm up to.

Unfortunately we live in a world where the lesser of two evil voting system is the standard that we have put in place. I am for a third party, i am all for voting for a candidate that actually cares for the people and doesn't put big money and big business first, but we do not have the luxury to live in that world right now. Biden was not my first choice for President, I wish more people felt the Bern, but I view Trump as pure evil. An ego driven narcissist who has built his platform on divisiveness, bigotry, hate etc. This man was not fit to run the country and we are still feeling the repercussions of his presidency as we head into another recession. This man should be thrown in prison for trying to overthrow our government. Everyone has the right to choose to vote, but i'm not gonna lie, i have a little more respect for people who at least try to do their part to keep the cheetoh man out of office again.

I think it's still too early to tell and too early to make proclamations about voting or not voting for Biden, so I'm not gonna give anybody shit at this point for saying one way or the other. This far out there's a lot of people speaking from their frustrations and their hearts - which I think is a good thing. When it comes time to actually vote the circumstances will likely be different and hopefully people will vote with their head based on the circumstances in Autumn '24. And with the Electoral College system even that depends on whether someone lives in a solidly red or blue state like Alabama/NY or a battleground state like PA/GA/etc. "Protest Vote" against Biden all you want if you're a progressive who for whatever reasons happens to be living in Alabama. At this point I'm 50% convinced that there's a 50% probability that either Trump or Biden won't be on their respective parties tickets. Two old guys, one older than the other but the younger in terrible physical shape. Who knows at this point how all of the legal problems Trump is now dealing with will affect him and the electorate. Plenty of time between now and the primaries/election for a major event that will shift the playing field. Unexpected turns in the economy, a war, etc. Who had the pandemic on their 2020 Election Bingo card in Summer '23? I think in the GOP there are candidates who are going to try to hang on as long as they can with the expectation that Trump at some point will face plant and they'll be the ones to sweep into the nomination. If that's the case hopefully MAGA stays home on Election Day. The Dems don't seem to have any kind of active bench at the moment - unless you want to count RFK Jr. who seems to be the GQP dream candidate to disrupt the Dems and maybe even run as Trump's VP. The Dems play too nice with each other and no one looks to be stepping up to challenge Biden out of inter-party respect. They could be fucked if Biden takes some kind of face plant between wrapping up the primaries/nomination and the election.

Remember when the Mueller report came out and the deal was that they acknowledged that DOJ policy prevented them from charging a sitting President, but didn't preclude them from any prosecutions after Trump was no longer in office? I doubt anything will come of that now, but I wouldn't mind seeing it happen if they lose some of these Big $ cases or even just to pile on should his sentencing on any of those be light.

Forgot to mention - in the primary vote for who the fuck ever. Biden, RFK Jr., "No Labels," anybody else who decides to challenge Biden, write someone in, etc. In the General, when you only have a realistic choice between 2 candidates, vote with your head if you want your vote to actually have an influence on what the country will be like for the next four years.
That's the beauty of having both a primary and general election. We have the opportunity to vote with our heart the first time and our head the second.

That being said I live in CA and my vote doesn't change a thing. My opinion would be different in another state. I know abortion rights and a myriad of other things are very important FWIW

Similarly - I had friends in NY (Cornell students '97 - '01) who "traded" their Clinton vote in NY which didn't change the outcome in NY to a Perot voter in a swing state. The thought was if Perot got enough popular votes his party would be better off in a next election, and perhaps Clinton would do better in a swing state. Of course there is no way to tell if either party went along with their half of the deal.

Biden is killing it on foreign policy and the economy but the dem leaders are weak on messaging and dem voters don't pay attention because they are mostly upper middle class white people who have it easy anyway.

I don't think he is as bad as all the Repubicans in my area do but they only think about themselves (plus stupid). I can't pay much attention to politics so I wont say why he would be good or bad. I wish he had a magic wand to fix the homeless issues but I don't think there are many answers to that. I saw one "vagrant" while I was in Chicago and he could just been some asshole that threatened to "fuck me up" and I'm sure there are more but the downtown area was very clean compared to Sf or Sacramento. Do they just throw them in the lake? I bet Newsome runs in 28' and maybe this time if something happens with Uncle Joe

How would a "Federal TAKEOVER" of Washington, D.C. work since it's already a Federal District? At least he got the last sentence correct.
