I'm not sure what all is going on here, but it is fun to watch.

Easily the best okonomiyaki I've seen being made. Needs more Kewpie though

I got sucked in by good reviews and Amazon deal day and bought the zojiruchi rice cooker for like $160.
I've used it once so far and happy. It just takes all the effort away and you know you get good rice with whatever you make with it.

I’ve also made quinoa and sushi rice and it was perfect too.

I have a rice maker and the "wife" refuses to use it. You literally just push a button. She prefers to keep watch on a pot, occasionally burn it, and clean the stove when it bubbles over, apparently.

The one thing I can’t cook is rice in a pot on the stove. I have a fucking culinary degree and it comes out like shit every time.

The one thing I can’t cook is rice in a pot on the stove. I have a fucking culinary degree and it comes out like shit every time. This has been my experience, sans the degree. It's crazy. We even bought a nice rice pot, but my first attempt with it was horrible. Well, we got a smaller enameled cast iron braiser. I have used it a few times to make this recipe, I even altered it slightly by using a small can of v8 and a few spoons of salsa in lieu of the tomatoes and more onion than it calls for. It has worked perfectly. My past mistakes I've determined to be are, I have no patience in leaving the lid and check it too soon and I don't think I've ever reduced the heat enough. Once I bring it to a boil I lid it and turn to the lowest setting. Turn it off after 20 minutes and let it sit for another 10-15 minutes before opening and fluffing. I've yet to try any other. stellanspice.com/authentic-mexican-rice/

I'll be in Lafayette in a few weeks for work. Somehow I never visited this place back when I'd spend time up that way. I'm looking forward to my first, and likely second, visit. I'm a little put off by the miracle whip, though. www.triplexxxfamilyrestaurant.com/

That's BS when you make a bomb stir fry or something and the rice sucks. I think i made a good long term call on the world's best. A-A+ Everytime, I'll take it.

My rice cooker was like $20 and I've had it for like 20 years. I can't imagine ever making plain rice any other way.

Our rice cooker is pretty good but it always overdoes a little bit on the bottom, thus making it a pain in the ass to clean.

I mix in what I can, but there’s always a little bit that won’t come up, needs to soak overnight, thus making cleaning a multi step process.

Because I'm a mick so I prefer my carbs in potato form.
But my ex MIL has this race maker that looks 50 years old she probably brought from the old country and it makes the fluffiest, most delicious rice. And I don't even like rice.
My poor kids suffer thru microwave minute-rice on weekends.
