I have a tray of seeds going but of course the one thing I’m most excited about (sport peppers) hasn’t done anything. Hopefully it just needs more time I won't pop any peppers for a couple more weeks. I've gone a little(lot) crazy with the number of varieties. I'm trying lots of new(to me) types like pascillas, chilhuacles and others to specifically dry and smoke. I'm also trying a few native new mexican chiles too roast while green or dry once ripe. I've got oddballs from Europe and South America and a few from Mexico. There's a couple thai chiles too. It would be pretty sweet to live somewhere that I could grow chiles outside year round.

I had a meh run in experimenting with new things last year. I'm going to try and stick to a few staples that I know are great this time. Of course I say that but..

I have a notebook that I've been jotting some stuff down in pertaining to the planning of the garden. It's starting to look like Charlie in the mail room.

I planted a tray of kale, cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, and celery on Monday night and several seeds have already popped.

I don't think I've ever had a triple cotyledon before. Neat.

Another super neat thing going on in the plant room this winter is that I have all stages of the lady bug life cycle occurring. I've watched larva morph to pupas and then into adults. I caught a larva doing this weird thing one night standing on it's tail end and the next day it was a pupa. Then I got lucky and watched one emerge from the pupa to adult and it was the brightest orange. So neat. I have a bunch of really cool pics. I just need to take the time to gather them in a folder and I'll post some.

All the tiny mantis I was seeing early on are all gone, though. They probably ate each other or the spiders got them. Hig's biosphere. I spend a lot of time up there just sitting listening to music.

All my pepper babies. I had to bring them in because the wind almost blew them away.

I'm having to go over my seedlings really well and pop aphids. I cut some sticky pads into strips and that is helping with the winged adults.

My garden is coming along nicely this year in spite of a crazy windstorm that had the tomato plants sideways one night. I've got them tied up and they are looking great now

I'm about ready to start.
The weeds got a bug head start on me. I did 1 big sesh today and I need another hour or two to start fresh for the flowers.
I have 24 sunflower and 24 other flower in starters and all the sunflowers popped and none of the others. I'm hoping they work out or I'll have to try another type.
