Is “Glory of Love” from the Karate Kid soundtrack yacht material? I’m still trying to understand all of this.

You ever do the Buffett listening thing, moretba ? I plowed through the catalog. As expected, the early, "Key West phase" albums are where the good stuff is. The first Norbert Putnam produced album before he became a caricature of himself is pretty damn good, but after that Buffett seemed to coast on the persona he created. Not into the 'Cheeseburger in Paradise' kind of stuff where he 'rocks out,' but can't fault him for mining that vein. After that there're a few decent tunes here and there, but mostly meh. Did a lot of fast-forwarding from 1979 on. Gave up by the 90's. Some of that 80's stuff, complete with 80's instrumentation and sound is brutal. First two, lesser known, albums are pretty decent too, if you're into the whole country music thing. Read that he's worth $500 million. Might make 'Margarittaville' the most valuable song of all time, since that tune pretty much gave him his career/massive fanbase/empire. 'White Sport Coat...''s probably my favorite album, though they're all good through at least 'Changes...Attitudes'. This may be my favorite non-early tune, even though it was written by someone else. Maybe because I've met those guys and can relate. Spending those renegade pesos On a bottle of rum and a lime Singin' give me some words I can dance to Or a melody that rhymes

Jimmy Buffet is the king of Marina Rock..
White sport coat.. Livin n Dyin.. A1A, and Havana Daydreamin i listen to and enjoy
And then i quit lol
I wanna give the next few a listen.. I do like the title track of both son of a sailor and changes in latitudes and wanna listen to the first few 80s ones i like the cover art of coocnut telegraph lol
Im a sucker for any song with a slide guitar and a sea bell lol
My entire young life i got it from my moms.. Fruitcakes, Banana Wind, Beach House on the Moon and of course Songs You Know By Heart were the ones i remember the most
Dude is definitely a business mogul and one of the most successful musicians of all time.. And id agree Margaritaville and Cheeseburger gotta be the most lucrative songs ever
He donated money and his studio to record the Sharin in the Groove album for Phish which funded/started the Mockingbird Foundation
Also sat in for a song in West Palm in like 94 or 96

I agree with Swifty, but would go up to Volcano. Plus, I like Fruitcakes and Barometer Soup, too.
Banana Republics is definitely one of my faves. Good to throw on the jukebox on a chill afternoon at the bar.

Steve Goodman has writing credits on some of the tracks, including Banana Republics. I did not know that.

I can listen to all of Changes in Latitudes, but only about half of Son of a Son of a. Didn't really dig his more R'n B style stuff on that album. I like my Buffett country and/or mellow. Never made it as far as those other albums you mentioned - other than Songs You Know by Heart, of course.

So I'll have to check those out now that there's at least two recommendations. Volcano (to me) was half good, half meh.

Its 1976 That mustache.. That jacket shirt necklace combo This dudes got some fire cocaine Early live versions of Margaritaville contain lost verses. This one is original, but modified a bit. I blew out my flip flop, stepped on a pop top Broke both my legs, had to limp on back home Lord I still feel pain, I wish I had some cocaine But that's been gone since early last fall.

Is this considered yacht rock? It’s one of my mom’s favorites.
I never got into jimmy buffet. Parrot heads are fun to drink with though.
