Just saw a story about some old retired dude going around at night and snipping the brake lines to a bunch of these scooters. Someone's Ring doorbell caught him.

Yup. They are everywhere. I don't necessarily hate them but I don't really like them. It's the street vs sidewalk issue and the fact that a lot of people think that the rules of the road don't apply. Waiting for someone to get killed.
I'd probably get hurt so I haven't tried using them.

Yeah eff those doorbells but that's another thread. The police have automatic access because Ring partnered with hundreds of departments across the country, and since the videos are not stored remotely in your house, people are willingly installing Big Brother cams everywhere much to the delight of those who favor the surveillance state...

scooter riderskeep getting killed here in ATL. I havnt used one, I like to walk (or drive). Wouldnt be so bad if folks could respectfully use them on sidewalks or if streets werent so unsafe for them. Its a nice alternaative way of getting around and brings some opportunities for folks getting them gathered for charging, etc.

they had to ban thier use on sidewalks and at night due to issues, not sure if it gets enforced much at all though.

Those things are a scourge.
As someone who bikes in the city, I don't want to see them in bike Lanes, and I definitely don't want to see them on the sidewalk. It's stupid that they just sit around untethered when not in use, obviously people are inconsiderate about where they leave them.

Aren't cars the real problem? These scooters and cyclists aren't running into each other not true. i saw 2 guys run into each other saturday night before the black keys and the one dude went flying off the scooter. it was actually hilarious to see. i wouldn't have laughed if dude was really hurt but he got up and started laughing at it too.

Just hit GR this weekend.
I have a bike, so probably won’t be using.
Seems hip.
