Turkey is, was , and will be the wildcard in the region..
They're playing all sides, killing protestors, bombing the kurds.. and they seem to be very pro ISIS imo until they will drop an occasional bomb on em to satisfy NATO..

ISIS is giving them a ton of cheap ass oil plus last year Turkey discovered a bunch of oil that's right along their border with Iraq so as long as the region is destabilized they can pump that unchallenged. They're a mixed bag as an "ally"

I wouldn't really call Turkeys gov't islamic, from what I gather it's islamic in a similar way that the US Gov't is christian. Technically they believe in democracy but like the US there is a strong religious undercurrent, it's kind of like how the republicans invoke god in almost everything they do but technically we're still secular
