MoneyGram got hacked recently. Their whole website just went down. Looked into it and from what I could find they made zero attempt to offer any official explanation both while they were down and afterwards. Had to go to some kind of "is the website down?" site to see that other MG users were reporting MG was hacked and they were never going to use them again, blah, blah, blah. About five days later MG was back. No mention that anything at all happened.
Pisses you off until you realize there's no real better options because they're all just as likely to get hacked and not want to acknowledge it. It's like being pissed at your cable company or the phone company back in the pre-cell days.

These data breaches happen at bigger and bigger data collection companies and there's basically nothing the modern person can do to be safe from all of it.
Your information is going to be exposed at some point or another.
