Legs and I took the kids to church for the first time in a long time (due to the pandemic) yesterday. At the conclusion of mass, some guy that I've never seen before came up to me and put $200 in my hand and told me, the Holy Spirit told him to give me the money so I could take my family out to lunch. I tried to protest but he wasn't having it and walked away quickly... I ended up donating the money to the church and took the family out for lunch. It was one of the strangest things...dude must have gotten his stimulus check or something. Nice gesture making the donation to the church...that being said, I think you should have honored the dudes request and just taken the fam out for lunch. It's kind of like me not being able to accept a compliment. I suck at it. Somebody will say thank you and my first knee jerk reply is you don't have to thank me.. I don't deserve it ect ect. I'm learning sometimes I just need to except the compliment and say thank you. Either way... you're a good dude man. Hope you're having a nice day and are feeling better.

One of those mysterious ways thing. Were you going to donate that much to the church that day? Were you planning on taking the fam out to lunch that day? The extent that situation may impact your and your family's decisions in the future is to be seen. You never know how something like that may stick in your or a child's head. Also, you may never know the impact of person accepting his perceived calling and following through with it may have on them. I wonder if someday something will happen and you attribute that exchange as an influence on the chain of events. -Whoa. We weren't going to donate that much. We weren't planning on going out to lunch either. I know my kids were shocked that the guy just gave away $200...maybe it will leave a lasting impression on them.

Red Osier would have been cool...we had a big dinner planned already for last night though...
To sum it all up, I hope that my kids learned something about being generous.

You should have said ok... but only if you dine with us.

That would have been very anxiety-inducing for me though...

Since our meals and lodging were already covered, we used to pool a portion of our per diem to buy dr00gz and spent the rest at the bar. Extended trips to Norfolk, I used to eat fast food on my own dime then drink $30 of dinner money at hotel bar that rang up as a restaurant. Bartender knew to give me a heads up as we approached $30 to cash it out and start a new tab.

I have a Weed Dragon that is basically a small scale flame thrower, I’ve debated using it when the ice is bad, of course I would only do it dressed as Boba Fett or the Mandalorian

Problem now is that it isn’t that cold so it’s so wet and slushy. Hard to tell from this angle, but that water in the channel I dug is about 8” at the deepest part.

Next time you can take the family to a reasonably priced lunch and tip the sever whatever the difference between your tab and 200 is. You win with the free lunch and server wins with a nice tip.
