We are waiting for the plane to Sicily now. Arrivederce Roma! FKT last two days was glorious. Questions first re: alfredo. It originates in Rome but we did not see it on the menu at any places we went to. We got a fettuccine dish last night but it came with a tomato sauce with fresh whole tomatoes and "speck" which is small pieces of pork lard.
I had mayo in Portugal because we got McDonalds in the Lisbon airport. They dont have ketchup so you can get a spiced mayo or "potato sauce" which is another mayo base. We snacked until the last minute and almost missed the flight because of it since the plane was not at the gate, and instead we had to take a bus onto the tarmac to get to it. The whole flight is waiting for us on the bus and some dude is like "Of course we're waiting on the Americans" (in Italian.)
