Ahhh, I get what you're saying now.
I thought you meant that they're scared in the same way that Republican politicians are scared to cross Trump

He's going to win 9-0 because they are terrified of the repercussions. The argument that is going to win is that a state can't make a decision that impacts a federal election. If that is how it plays out, who the fuck is in fact supposed to enforce this very clearly written clause in the amendment? Also, states are fine taking the right to vote and get an abortion away from citizens, but they can't exercise the right to keep someone off their ballot? The conclusion I got out of it is that they are going to contend that only Congress can bring such charges. What that means in the real world is that Congress would be in charge of policing state elections and that states can't protect the integrity of their own elections. That notion is absurd, but maybe that is actually how the clause was intended to function.

The notion that we(scotus, congress, etc) are going to subvert or ignore the law and allow someone to remain on the ballot simply to appease that individuals supporters and avoid potential unrest is fucking ridiculous. Trump can pretty much do whatever he wants and get his way in court because his supporters might react violently? Our counrty is failing before our very eyes.

And while I'm up here... How ridiculous is it that anyone is shocked or disappointed with the way our government functions? We elect lawyers as our representatives. Folks who went to schoool to learn how to argue and win. Of course Congress is going to be a fucking shit show.

It's interesting (not a good kind of interesting) how much chaos and confusion Trump has created since he took office and even now, three years after he left. And not just your run of the mill kind of chaos, but on a grand scale and affecting things no one had ever thought would be an issue - like keeping a Presidential candidate off the ballot for not only participating in, but causing an insurrection. He's a cross between the Hindu goddess Kali, and a Bizzaro World version of King Midas where everything he touches turns to shit.

Trump can pretty much do whatever he wants and get his way in court because his supporters might react violently? Our counrty is failing before our very eyes. Coddling fascists who want an all-powerful authoritarian in charge out of fear that they'll get upset if their cult leader/wannabe authoritarian is legally kept off the ballot for legitimate reasons is crazy. If this were happening in another country it'd be easy to think that the people of that country deserve the authoritarian asshole for refusing to adequately deal with him in a legal way when they had the chance, but instead chose to appease his followers so they wouldn't get upset. The Dems have no balls and only talk about the 'dangers to democracy' posed by Trump while the "best" of the GOP will wait in silence and either sigh in relief when he's gone and deny they were ever really behind him or if he regains power they'll happily bend the knee for a chance to sit at the table of power and to keep their own heads off the chopping block. (The Royal) We have seen this all happen before during the pre-war years in Italy and Germany as well as the pro-fascist Americans who thought we should side with Germany and the fascists.

No, Seinfeld was JFK Jr, who died in a plane crash. The Trump people think he’s still alive and involved in….whatever. The commercial was about RFK Jr, who is a waste of space. The theme and graphics were from a famous JFK election though.

Don't have Comedy Central access but I caught his monologue online. Bringin' the truth while making me laugh. Glad to see Jon back for at least a little while since Apple fucked his really good show.

Just filled out my primary ballot.
In CO, if you are an unaffiliated voter, you get sent both the Republican and Democratic primary ballots.
Now you can only return one.
Trump was still on the primary ballot.
