the league and team both have really dropped the ball on this. their canned PR statements didn't even mention Kyrie specifically. the nets should cut him as far as i'm concerned. Miles Leonard was cut for using an anti-semitic slur. and sure Kyrie is the better ball player, but is that really an excuse? |

Don't worry, the Nets are going to solve this by hiring Ime Udoka who is currently suspended for the entire season by a different team for sexual harassment in the workplace.  |

i honestly didn't even know you could hire a coach who is currently suspended.
although maybe they are working through the legalities if you will, as there hasn't been an official team announcement yet.

These teams investing millions of dollars per player aren't vetting them before signing them to see if they have views that go against the teams values (or are potential P.R. problems if you take a more realistic view) or placing wording in their contracts that they shall not engage in behavior that goes against team values?

its a billion dollar industry. you sign players based on their talent, not their morals.
you pay people to deal with the PR mess later if something happens.

Agreed. They vetted Kyrie very thoroughly on his ability to play basketball. They chose to ignore what most people already knew; Kyrie is a coach killing, team killing and chemistry killing weirdo who thinks he's the only one who really gets it. He has yet to play anywhere that wasn't immediately glad to be rid of him when he left.

Nets hire Jacque Vaughn as coach. my guess is they had to investigate things before hiring him, and backed out once they found out deetz. it always sounded like it was more than just sleeping with an exec's wife. some of the comments Matt Barnes made on the situation seem like there's a lot more to the story. |
