Taking a breather... I've gotten a little soft. The difference in my overall physical shape and fitness has declined over the past year. I got so winded on some of the climbs and my knees and shins were hurting. Big wake up call to reverse that trend. I want to be doing this for many, many years to come.  |

Cedar Falls. The falls were all dry from lack of rain. Lower Falls had a trickle from seep, but everything else was dry.   |

Yeah, most of the falls on states either side of the Ohio River go to a trickle or nothing after spring. Still cool to visit in any season!

Yeah, most of the falls on states either side of the Ohio River go to a trickle or nothing after spring. Still cool to visit in any season! I really want to go in the spring sometime when it's at peak flow. It might make for a treacherous hike, though. The winter would be cool, too. The falls turn to ice and I want to see it in person. |

The pictures don't do justice to how massive some of these hemlocks are and they are the predominant tree in a lot of the gorges. Incredible.   |

Rose Lake. Next year I'm going to plan a route that takes us around the lake. Again this year, by the time we get to this point we're beat and several miles in and the truck is still 1.5 miles away. I think the lake loop is 2.5m. Next year...  |
