Sorry if it came off insensitive. All holidays mean something to somebody. Not for me to Judge. I understand why it's a holiday. Plenty of things in this world to celebrate, have at it.

I agree with the skyline chili sentiments
Don't agree on the other aspects, Zeta been a staple round these parts and is on the list of bucket list basers, as is doc pete...(stupidt SPACe lol)
As for this day, won't lie until a few years back had no idea of and or about it
Definitely something that should be remembered , honored and celebrated ... though the celebrations seem somber in nature and maybe they aren't. Just seems a weird thing to say to someone(Happy Juneteenth) of Color/African/Slave descent (sorry I don't know how to articulate that/this part/statement)
Just like when emancipation happened , you're free...but your fucked
Feels that it was probably similar in nature when June 19th finally came

My place of work has went all in the last few years for Pride Month and Juneteenth. Lots of stuff hung up and all that…it’s like if Bob Marley incorporated rainbows into his stage backdrop.

It's really funny how some of you act sometimes. 5 years ago I bet 90%-100% of us had no idea what Juneteenth was or the significance around it. I want to show my boss, who is black, some of your comments, and even more some of your responses because she would be laughing at all of you so hard. You can recognize the cultural significance of an event and still have the opinion that it shouldn't be a federal holiday. I don't think anyone is being racist here and I think it's silly to judge or throw around insults, especially when talking about an event that just became a federal holiday in the last 2 years.

Why shouldn't it be a "federal holiday"? Why do you care or think it shouldn't? Because your black boss doesn't think so? I think it's silly to be so stuck in the fucking past.

If I'm not not mistaken, you're involved in HR for a "small" privately held, for profit business, as is your boss. Your, and her's, thoughts on it are shaped by who you're employed by.
I'm sure a whole lot of folks in Chicago had the day off, appreciated recognition of the day, and we're very pleased about it.
If you don't have any veterans who died in your family, one wouldn't think Memorial Day is "kinda lame" right? I would hope not.

Ex-Mrs. Chad works for Nordstroms. Huge company right? Still owned by the family. That family is very Catholic. One of the only Sundays of the whole year they are closed is Easter Sunday.
And they're open on New Years Day.
It's all about who signs your checks.

I recognize its cultural significance but I'm not gonna throw around personal insults if someone does or doesn't beleive it should be a federal holiday. That silly.

I support anybodies right to observe any holiday pr significant date in time if that event doesn't promote hate towards other people but we are talking about what the government deems a federal holiday and whether or not banks should stay open. What's lame is the bickering between a bunch of white people, some from a place of privilege, on this topic.

It makes more sense to me that we have a federal holiday remembering significant things that actually happened in this Country before we have one for some people's favorite deity or because it's the first day of the year. Don't get me wrong, I'll take all of them, give me Holi, Lunar New Year, Ramadan, Diwali, Kwanza, etc...

I agree that if we have a federal holiday to recognize one holiday, we should have one to recognize the other, same thing when honoring historical events.

All solid bands. They should tour more.
