I don't bother with tv news. My primary US source of US news is NPR. Maybe Trump's saving his vitriol for the convention, but his social media posts sound mellow (for him), which got me thinkng. My first thoughts were that this will put him over the top and in the WH. I heard a snippet of Biden's Oval address. Now I wonder if after this Trump Ass Attempt if the swing voters in the battleground states who are going to decide the election are going to react more level-headed than the crazy MAGA types calling for revenge and may vote for Biden, agreeing with him that the temperature needs to be brought down instead of turned up. Just a hope and trying to look at this optimistically. Obviously yinz know better than me if that's a possibility or if I'm just blowin' smoke up my hiney hole.

I don't support violence, I don't support death of anyone. I'd rather see my enemies rot in a prison than be killed by a bullet. Trump is a puppet, he may be the face of crazies but there is plenty of people behind the scenes who aid in the mess he has and will continue to create. What i do find wild is the dude who tried to murder Trump is a registered Republican. This will always be a bigger mental health problem than gun problem. Sadly, no change will come of it. The illusion that gun violence in America is primarily driven by mental health problems is a republican narrative to take the heat off of gun laws. It's straight out of the heritage project 2025 bullshit. "Let's blame something that's difficult to fix so we can't do stuff that's easy to fix" |

Idk, I deleted my comment i had for that post but regardless of how much of a pos trump is, celebrating this shooting that killed a father and injured others and has set the bar for political violence higher for all sides that have considered it is not something I have liked seeing. Jokes in some circles, maybe,but generally it's not helpful at best and in reality just not OK.
Nothing is OK really, it's all pretty much just steps toward no going back, but we've bounced back from worse. Whatever.

It sucks that our country specifically has such an obsession with guns but there's so little the average person can do because corruption/greed is so rampant. Love your people/pets, they're never around for long enough. |

So the kind of people who are anti Political Correctness, pro talking up violence as form of political speech, (in the US) were full of jokes when Pelosi's husband got attacked, talk about executing political enemies as "traitors," etc., are upset because Kyle Gass made a joke (that jibes with the sentiments of millions, perhaps hundreds of millions of people) about someone taking a shot at Trump. And the source of this outrage is a politician in Australia? Didn't have that on my BINGO card.
