Where does y’all’s morality lie when it comes to stealing from Home Depot?

Getting in some expensive legal trouble for trying to save a few bucks isn't rational. My morals say it's OK though.

I have this debate with myself at the self checkout every time. Sometimes I decide if it doesn't scan on the first try it's free.

The big giant conglomerate whose owner is a big contributor to Trump and GOP causes - that Home Depot? Anybody who supports Trump with votes or donations doesn't seem to have any morality problems with his grifting and stealing as a normal way of doing business, so one way of looking at it is that anyone who does the same to them is merely an agent of karma. And it's not like shrinkage will force the giant corporation into bankruptcy or anything - accounting just deducts shrinkage from taxable income, or some such accounting thing. Of course that could just be considered a justification for theft from Home Depot's point of view. And it wouldn't be doing anything that employees, administrators, and vendors aren't already doing themselves on a much larger scale than an individual. Things fall off the truck all the time.

I love the person who drinks two beers every three months and then one day proudly declares they've quit drinking.
I bought a lottery ticket 6 years ago and today I can say I've quit gambling.

You have to steal over 1k in CA for them to press charges. I think I dunno do you need any miracle grow?

Nice remote. We have 4 for our living room TV because they are constantly lost that's less than 1 for every 2 in your household. Clearly not enough.

I personally would not steal whether I agreed with the business's ownership, or their morals or not. But, I also wouldn't judge others who do it, I'm certainly not perfect.

Where does y’all’s morality lie when it comes to stealing from Home Depot? A long time ago when I was moving into my first solo apartment, I needed to buy rugs. It was a requirement that you had to put rugs down in all three rooms because the floors were really nice. I went to Home Depot and bought a cheap rug for my bedroom, and a cheap runner for the hallway. Then I saw they had this beautiful Mohawk Berber rug that was on sale. It was out of my price range, but my mom told me I should get it, and that they last forever. It was on sale from $1,500 to $600. So I decided to buy it on a credit card. I went to the counter and checked out and kind of wasn’t really paying attention. I was like “wait, how much?” as I was waking out. I looked at the receipt and it was less than $300 total. She charged me $60 for the rug. I went back and forth. Should I go in and be honest? Should I just pretend I didn’t notice? Would I get the cashier in trouble if I called out her mistake? Probably. And that’s how I justified it. I didn’t want to get her in trouble and this is a big chain store, that I have zero affection or appreciation for. They kill small stores and rake in billions. Fuck it. Score. It’s the only time I have ever done something like that. Normally, even when people have given me the wrong change, I do the right thing. But I have no regrets or remorse for it. And I still have the rug almost 20 years later.
