hmm, I never had a roasted radish, I'm gonna have to give it a go.
My local supermarket is up for sale, I hope Fairway buys it out but a Stew Leonards is opening pretty close to me too though, never been to one before.
I know I'm getting old when I get excited about supermarkets...

Yeah, I was expecting LA to have a larger population. Maybe immediate suburban region included the LA area is also larger
still, I would think the complete failure of ATL area in the original show compared to some sort of containment and control in the new one is strange.

wait. this is just in the show right? cause LA is a lot bigger than Atlanta. after looking it up LA city is about 4M with a metro area is 13-17M. Atlanta pop is just over 500,000 with a metro area of about 5.5M.

All the hillbillies around here are complaining that it's too expensive.

"Atlanta is the cultural and economic center of the Atlanta metropolitan area, home to 5,522,942 people and the ninth largest metropolitan area in the United States"
"The city is the focal point of the larger Los Angeles metropolitan area and the Greater Los Angeles Area region, which contain 13 million and over 18 million people"
this makes more sense. I was getting reports of city proper and greater metro areas mixed up.
hence why I think its weird that LA seems somewhat contained in the show atm.

I like where the show is going and I enjoy the angle they are conveying but it's still dragging slower than I'd like it to. I say but next few episodes shit will really start hitting the fan

My coffee maker seems to be taking forever. Maybe I should run some vinegar through it.

I am seriously behind at work through no (real) fault of my own. Thankfully, for no particular reason, it is stressing me less than it usually does. Maybe Ole Miss being #3 makes all the difference--and yet Bama, FL st., and OH st fans don't seem at ease, and their teams are usually up there. I could spend time pondering normalization--or I could get back to work!

It's going to be a long night. Work till 10, drive to DC to drop car off, catch 3am train to Bmore to catch a 6am flight with a layover in Philly 40 minutes later. Then maybe I can get some sleep. Maybe.

Poo, I understand the whole "welcome to post columbine world" idea but I think a lot of it has to do with fear of litigation. Zero Tolerance is also zero discretion. We remove decision making ability from principals and others by saying that the circumstances do not matter, intent or situations are irrelevant as long as meaningless punishments are administered so that if anyone does make a mistake, they can't get their asses sued off. As I understand it, SCHOOL administrators actually do retain a fair amount of discretion in general. I mean Poo may be right about CA, I don't know, but I don't think he knows any more about TX law and educational policy than the rest of us, and, generally speaking, to the extent that school admin doesn't have any discretion, it is because they have, as a district, chosen to abandon that discretion. and there are exceptions even within no tolerance policies: a knife is a knife is a knife is a knife, but a clock is a clock and is not usually also a bomb.
I think any way you slice it, MacArthur high did a very poor job in the way they handled this, and the suspension could hurt the kid's future because again, what Poo is telling you may be true for CA, but that doesn't mean TX schools aren't obligated to turn over disciplinary records (they might not be--I really dont' know). I think that, to the extent the school is claiming it had no choice, it has taken that path to cover its butt when it should have exercised intelligent discretion in this situation. Granted, the cops' choice of actions were even stupider than the school's.

I wonder if the first teacher he shows it to is in trouble for not reporting it. If the English teacher, the second etcher to become aware of it, thought there was a danger, why didn't the first teacher?
