Think ill have to get the Great Jones Street by Don Delillo. Had to read White Noise for a college lit course back in the 90's. Liked it lots!
finished up Me, the Elton John book. I really liked it. Could be my fav rock start autobiography
Reading the latest Jack Reacher Book, Blue Moon, really digging it so far. His last couple seemed to taper off, still good but lacking. so far this has hit the spot.

Reading Saville by David Storey. Realistic novel about a boy growing up in rural England before, during, and after WWII. I like it a good bit so far. a little under 1/2 way in.

Hunter S. with a gem of a description:
"By eleven about thirty Hell's Angels were there, half blocking the narrow street, shouting, drinking beer, brushing green dye on their beards, gunning their engines, adjusting their costumes and knocking each other around to get the feel of things. The girls stood quietly in a group, wearing tight slacks, kerchiefs and sleeveless blouses or sweaters, with boots and dark glasses, uplift bras, bright lipstick and the wary expression of half-bright souls turned mean and nervous from too much bitter wisdom in too few years. Like the Angels, the girls were mainly in their twenties - although some were obviously teen-agers and a few were aging whores looking forward to a healthy outdoor weekend."

Recently read Mother Night by Vonnegut. Really great! Funny thing is i have now read 3 by Vonnegut, Slaughterhouse 5 years & years ago &Breakfast of Champions about a year & 1/2 ago. Funny: i loved Slaughterhouse 5 so much that I was ashamed of not returning 2 Vonnegut sooner but then BofC left me conflicted. Maybe it was the illustrations, I don't know. Either way, glad i gave him another try cuz MN was as good as any new novel i read last year (new 2 me @ least).

Reading Last Orders by Graham Swift. something of a modern day As I Lay Dying. The characters go to the sea to spread ashes of a war vet buddy and give their person recitations of memories and beliefs a long the way.

Starting a new 1: Disgrace by J.M. Coetzee I read that in college, what a fucking downer You were right: certainly was a downer. But I guess I dig a downer sometimes. I understand there is a movie, but I doubt I see it. Among my weaknesses: I can read about animal cruelty sans nausea, but I can rarely endure it on film. Anyway, thought it was a great short novel about power dynamics. The Petrus character rang very true to me, having lived in southern Africa at the time the book was written.
Next up: final novel of Philip Roth's american identity trilogy: The Human Stain.

We didn't watch the movie in class. I remember liking the book but it's so rough.
