Who onows though either way seems power games were played and perhaps Phils wife told Bobby he know nothing of the Grateful Dead and maybe not.
hard to say. Phil seemed to do what he could to thwart the others.
one thing is for sure.. Phil seemed to book a show, Nye or something then after Bobby announced the other ones or what ever it was called in a big venue, Phil changed his show to right down the road in a small er venue creating a battle dynamic for fans.. thats bullshit games played by Phil.
not a Phil fan

I also read an interesting book of essays by Jonathan Franzen: The End of the End of the World.

Started reading Remembering Satan by Lawrence Wright. The book covers some of the behind the scenes stuff happening in this case. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thurston_County_ritual_abuse_caseI had to stop reading it for a bit because it's pretty damn aggravating to read about police being super inept at their jobs and causing somebody to be put away for years based on allegations that were literally changing by the day.

I'm just starting topic of cancer by henry miller, only started the intro.
I just started listening to proust Swann's way. This so far is great to listen too. Rambling, already sent me into a mental tangent and I'll have to restart it, lol. I like that.

I am rereading the Children of Violence series by Doris Lessing.
In order: Martha Quest, A Proper Marriage, A Ripple from the Storm, Landlocked, and The Four-Gated City.
I've cleared the first 3 and am 120 pages into Landlocked.
An important series of books to me personally. The first four are set in Zimbabwe (though it was Rhodesia at the time, and she fictionalizes the country's name to be Zambesia), and I originally read them all in 1996 and 1997. I had no idea at the time that the Peace Corps would land me in Zimbabwe for the years of 1998-2000. That these were already five of my all-time favorite novels just rendered it all very serendipitous.

I just read the first 33 pages of A Warning by Anonymous and it's way worse than I thought. I'm terrified by this picture of what's really going on in the White House.

Some blow and McDonald's cheese burgers with hot foreign chicks? It's just like back stage at a mule show , minus the hot foreign chicks I.e. not thaaaat bad

Finished the Children of Violence. am now reading A Room with a View by E.M. Forster. It's okay, but I think it is going to be my least favorite Forster. More than his others I've read, ARWAV seems to heavily rely on what I think of as Victorian themes (though it's best typified by Jane Austen who is pre-Victorian): essentially, romance sought, thwarted, and then found again with the struggle along the way being mostly a class struggle between the larger family brands involved. It ain't bad. funny at times.

Read "Scoop" by Evelyn Waugh. Funny at times, more toward the end, but the story was not all that interesting overall.
Almost finished with Great Jones Street by Don Delillo. Not bad. trippy but without overdoing it. don't get me wrong; it's silly; it's whackey! but it's still pretty clever in its postmodern way of making everything look like its making fun of every other thing. Bucky Wunderlick is a great name for a protagonist rock star too.
