I picked up a couple books to read over the summer, "Death on the Installment Plan" by Celine, and then two books from Naomi Klein, "No Logo" and "Shock Doctrine"
I didn't realize how long Death On the Installment Plan was until I got it though, prob gonna take me most of the summer to finish it.

No Logo is a great read. Draws heavily on Chomskyism.
Bought On The Rez by Ian Frazier to get into next.

on a more serious note im going to delve into James Carse--finite and infinite games and thus spoke Zarathustra by Nietzche

I've started Make Something Up: Stories You Can't Unread. it's mostly just short stories and a prequel to Fight Club so I'm excited to get to that.

so pretty much finished Arthur C. Clarke's Childhoods end.. i liked it lots perhaps more than 2001/2010 books. Ascension is a big interest to me. def recommend it.
after reading the book, the mini series is def not a good job. seems way more fluffy to me.
i picked up lots more Clarke. 2061 odyssey three and 3001: the final odyssey. no clue these existed til last week
i also got his Rama series.
good stuff. i love having books im excited to read

I've been reading about Jim Goad a bit lately and I kind of want to pick up some of his stuff.
Really controversial dude.

I'd almost feel guilty buying something of his at full price if it meant that he got all the money for it.
He really is a scummy guy but Patton Oswald and a bunch of other comedians have praised his work.

finished 2061 odyssey three. id call it a pleasant read, no giant payoff at the end but it was still interesting reading about what Clarke envisioned for the future.
well into 3001: the final odyssey. A surprise start which i found very interesting.

I've always wanted to read Clarke's stuff but just can't commit to it.
I don't really care for fiction but his stuff seems thought provoking enough to keep my attention.

I don't really care for fiction but his stuff seems thought provoking enough to keep my attention. i like his style.. not to complex but enough, yet interesting themes.. not a million busy details, names.. its real interesting seeing how close he is to reality in his future predictions. all in all a fun series to read. books are not all that lengthy either which is nice. great train material
