gonna finish 3001 today.. so far so good storyline wise, hoping for some payoff at the end.
one complaint, he uses passages verbatim several times from previous books in the last book

well finished up 3001. kind of a lackluster ending.. conceptually i liked it but the writing did not capture me or create as much excitement as i was hoping for.
still worth a read,, Clarkes vision for future events and technology is interesting and i liked the story lines but just didnt bring it together. first two books much better than second two.

still chugging thru Codex Alera series. book 3. loving it still.. i like that the books continue years after the last, makes it even more unpredictable.
noticed an L.Sprague de Camp book at train station book exchange..i grabbed it... Lest Darkness Fall,, a classic time travel story of mondern man confronting the ancient world

I have been listening to audio books in the car while I drive my kid back and forth to school. After a long stretch of reading strictly nonfiction books, I decided to try to get through some of the Harry Potter books. I'm on book 3 Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban right now.

Yeah, they are light enough material that I can focus on driving while I listen to them. I doubt I will finish the series though. I want to listen to some "learn Spanish" audio books soon.

up to book 5/6 of the Jim butcher Codex Alera series. cant get enough The Codex Alera is Jim’s six-book fantasy epic set in another world, mixing the politics of Rome with a world alive with elemental animism. www.jim-butcher.com/booksi think he is my fav fantasy author at this point with The Dresden Files, The Codex Alera, The Cinder Spires harry dresen is awesome.. modern day wizard in chicago.. really liked the first book of the cinder spires. interesting uses of magic. highly recommend if you enjoy fantasy genre

Finally almost done this Tom Robbins book. It's enjoyable but it drags a little some time and the language is super dense. Went to the library today and decided I wanted to switch from the satire/comedy and get a thriller so I picked up a crime fiction called Gangsterland. Has something to do with an intersection of organized crime and organized religion. Sounded interesting.

Has something to do with an intersection of organized crime and organized religion. Sounded interesting. Which one? I've started Fierce Invalids Home From Hot Climates 3 or 4 times. I get about 80 pages in and sit it down. I just can't get into it. I love others, though. Another Roadside Attraction, Even Cowgirls Get the Blues, Skinny Legs and All, Jitterbug Perfume. All great reads, but yes, he can be quite wordy. Sometimes I find myself rereading sections where he goes off on a rant.

Lol It is nothing like the others I've read. So slow and boring. You're saying I don't need to finish it?
