Part of me feels if I start skating again i'm goign to start switch, so it's like learing again, but then when I go back to regular shit's gonna be raging.

bright side is best  my family is getting a chuckle out of this long board thing. i am turning 37 this summer, and I've never rode one before. but i just think fuck you (with love) and watch me. and they know i'll get it. plus, good lesson for spock. you can do whatever you want, whenever you want. plus, it's just for fun. i'm not trying to turn pro or anything.... just a fun way to get around and not have to ask for rides. |

I was working on a longboard for my wall. I'm itching to get at it again, but I can't really do anything like that right now. I'll never ride again, which is a drag, but whatever. I thought I would ride again when I started this one. It just sits in the corner. That's why the next one is for the wall.  |

Skateboarding was my first drug, favorite activity from my childhood, but once in high school it was mostly booze and blunts. We used to wax up curbs all over the place, lots of running from cops and irreverent arguments with property owners. A lot of the kids I skated with never graduated high school and things went from there. One of the dudes who skated with is ended up a meth addict an murdered a couple with a hammer, fucking grim.
It was weird, most of the folks I skated with all used drugs and booze but I never would, they'd head off to get high and I'd just keep skating. I get the same feeling from live music as I would get from skating, I'm never letting this one go...

Back in high school we built a sweet ramp in a buddies barn. Big 8 foot quarter pipe you dropped into, up over a multi level box wit a rail on the far side, then into a small halfpipe. Fucked my shit up many a times on that thing. We usually were more worried about stealing his older brothers beer and joint roaches |

i remember taking a trip to alameda to visit my uncle a while when i was 12 or 13.
he took me all over san fancisco to skate at places, spent a lot of time at pier 7 which i thought was the coolest thing ever since it was featured on a lot of the skate videos i would watch. he had a park near his place in alameda too that i went and skated at a while.

Oh man that brings back some memories. I actually skated at pier 7 too back when I visited san fran the first time, I think in 8th grade. I remember just being in awe being there. I think I quit skating sometime in college when I gained other interests. Part of it too could have beem having no one to skate with at college. Definitely still follow the sport now and its progressed to a point where I can't fathom half the shit these pros do now. |

i should try and look into the sport again, too heavy and too reliant on an uninjured body to take it up again, but if i get a skateboard around, i can always ollie and at least flip it around, but im likely to lose balance, wouldnt take much time and effort to get more comfortable on a board though. never have been into longboards, always seemed gaudy and impractical, standard street skating boards on the larger size with larger wheels was my deal, small enough to still get some tricks in but equipped well to get around and get speed
best days of my childhood for sure

I miss skateboarding, but I'm fairly certain my body couldn't handle it anymore. My boy and a neighbor boy have some cheap skate decks that they play with occasionally. They always beg me to show them some tricks...
At this point, I can still ollie, land about 1 out of 10 kickflips and can nollie shuv it about half the time.
