Same here. Loved the original trilogy when I was a kid. Seeing the first one in a theatre when I was 11 is still a cherished memory. By the third act of Ep. 6 and the Ewoks I realized Star Wars changed or I did. It all just seems dated to me now. I could watch Empire if it pops up on cable, there's nothing else on, and I'm too lazy to do anything else. Maybe Ep. 4. It just seems to be for the kids now - but maybe it always was. I'll hold of on judging the upcoming release and hope for the best as it looks like it might be going back to old school film making instead of just straight up, video game looking, CGI fest.

star wars is a PG movie and theres no swearing or really anything bad in it at all
it was always meant for kids
but hey sometimes were all kids. its nice to be a kid sometime

I just wish the would have stuck to the tone of the first two, which appealed to kids but wasn't quite so targeted to the kiddies. There was a certain, not darkness, but something more real and less cartoony about the first two. The Ewoks changed all that and took away any menace that existed. Jar-Jar Binks put the nail in the coffin. I get what you're saying, rage, but if it were anything else you'd be saying it's ghey as fuck.

I get what you're saying, rage, but if it were anything else you'd be saying it's ghey as fuck. look at episode 3. got pretty dark in that one i like that one a lot more than 4 older people like 4 cuz of nostalgia but it really isnt that great when you watch all of them in a row. pretty uneventful. obviously 5 and 6 are legit tho |

Yeah, 3 tried to go for the darker tone, but by then, for me at least, any true darkness or menace had long been sucked out of the series. 5 was the best and most fully realized, 4 was just a good version of Saturday morning adventure serials like Zorro or Buck Rogers. At some point in 6 it just started getting goofy. I wonder how successful it would all be if it were just coming out now. Hard to say, because the original was such a game changer and had a huge impact on just about everything in the genre that followed. I hope this next one doesn't suck. Saw a video (which I didn't watch) on another site this morning titled 'Why the new Star Wars might suck,' or something along those lines. Disney's got a lot riding on this so I don't think they're going to fuck it up.

i forgot that disney is doing this tho, you never know with them...
i mean it totally could suck, BUT george lucas is still advising whats going on tho, so thats good
any movie that could be a kids movie could also suck

just saw a new trailer on TV that i havent seen before
god damn, this movie looks epic
i love how its like old school vehicles and shit and has the old school vibe with no CGI stuff, looks good

everyone always complains about episodes 1-3 but really they werent that bad like obviously whether you like it or not if they did 1-3 inevitably there would have to be a love story btwn anakin and that girl episode 3 was pretty good imo and same with 2 1 was kinda gay but qui gon jin and darth maul were kinda cool Say's season 2 of the walking dead was shit but the star wars prequels "werent that bad"  |
