Rewatching A New Hope for the first time in a while. Three things that were an absolute cinematographer pro move are the score done by John Williams, the miniature sets, and the stormtrooper and Vader costumes. Not skimping on those elements are definitely what separates it from a cheesy B movie.
Lil bear is impressed with the dives that troopers are doing after being shot by blasters.

I realize how lucky I am to have seen it for the first time as an 11 year on summer vacation a month after it came out. I'd imagine now it's somewhat less special than it was then. Back then there was nothing like it I could relate to. Maybe the Flash Gordon and old timey Saturday morning adventure serials that were on that my dad told he watched as a kid and that Lucas based his movie on, but I never saw those in a theater and they were nowhere near the size and scope of what I just saw on the big screen. 2001? Cool, but too heady for me at the time and not at all in the realm of adventure even if the special effects were cool. Star Wars was it. It was the first. It wasn't even Episode IV at the time and no one in the theater was thinking sequel, much less three trilogies, books, comics, tv shows, etc.
Now by the time some kid sees Star Wars for the first time they could've seen any number of similar movies or tv shows. Maybe they're more into Transformers or LOTR or HP or the MCU or any other number of franchises or single movies. Even if it's a favorite, Star Wars seems like it would just be one of many choices for a kid to watch now and if there's something special about it it's only because they're parents or grandparents are telling them so because to them it's likely just another cool movie. Obviously none of that makes it any better then than it is now, just different. Ultimately not that important of thing, just an interesting thing to have experienced as a kid. I have no idea what the equivalent sensation would be for an 11 year old today.

It's almost like it doesn't happen in that order any more with the movie being first and a smash hit that is followed by prolonged success. Harry Potter began with books, the MCU with comics, Barbie obviously, Transformers, etc.

I binged Ahsoka. Enjoyed it, didn't love it, but now I want to go back and watch everything with her character in it. Reprise. Plus, I think the Clone Wars series is one of the only ones I haven't watched.

You gotta wait till the end of Nick's set to get your 'Star Wars' but he starts off the night with a Twenty-Oh-One, so that's nice.
