I beat up the bar at my Dad's wedding. And it was 4/20 so I showed up wasted. Pretty much everything I attend, I show up wasted. It's what I do. People expect it now.

I always give a really good gift, like way more than my plate, because I'm going to drink enough booze to poison the bridal party, and by the end of the night, I will do something that I regret.

We had like 140 people at our wedding and reception. We got married in 09 when the economy was in the shitter and hotels and resorts were dropping rates like bridesmaids dropping panties so we got off pretty cheap comparatively. It was about 8 grand and father in law paid 5g. It was stressful as hell but our guests had a great time and many say it was the best wedding they've ever been to.
We made out like make out bandits on gifts and cash. Even our dollar dance thing brought in another $200 which we spent $170 of it on The Wire the complete series DVD set as a nice gift to ourselves. How much is that set now? Less than the price of this missed meal

I'm pretty sure my wedding was under $10k. Are shotguns expensive?

Zing. Was not a shotgun wedding. My son was 8 months old and he was our ring-bearer.

There were not. That would have been distracting.

Etiquette be damned. If you don't want to feed me at your wedding, don't invite me and if you are expecting a gift that recoups the cost of the meal, don't even be friends with me.

Right? I understand the frustration of paying for a meal that doesn't get eaten...but charging someone that is supposed to be a loved one is 100% grade A horseshit. Or whore's shit. I can't remember.

If you aren't going to give a decent gift, RSVP no.
