Anybody else read them? I'm trying to find some modern stuff with interesting story lines and good reviews. Right now I'm reading Dark Night by Paul Dini and I've got a recent run of comics centered around The Vision by Tom King. It's been called the Breaking Bad of comics. Haven't read Vision yet, has gotten good reviews. Hickman's East of West is pretty good, too disturbing in parts. Sick in others. His Black Monday Murders is being hyped currently. Killing and Dying was good. Not a superhero comic

Comics are a powerful medium, and too easily dismissed IMO

Oh yea Electric Sublime.. bout a bipolar schizo artist who can jump into paintings to solve crimes.. fights a terror group led by an Andy Warhol lookalike who destroys the classics..
Pretty good commentary on mental illness, the art scene. and good art work..
Ancestor a good one too

Reading The Invisibles by Grant Morrison. Def crazy.. in one panel Papa Guedhe (hendrix) voodoo character is sitting on a headstone that looks like it says Christopher Priest, has to be a shout out to him..
He did a pretty far out run of Black Panther in the early 00's and introduced The Crew that marvel thought was too inner city and scrapped and now Coates is bringing back for the worse imo
Ta Nehisi Coates though I like him is mainstreaming the hood and black radicalism for marvel same way he does NYT best sellers!
Can't stand the way marvel insists on keeping continuity now, not for the comic or characters sake but for their movies and TV shows. They bring in good writers but you can tell their hands are forced sumtimes. Only Warren Ellis handles it deftly by taking subtle shots at them and also has the credibility that allows them to give him freedom to do cool.stuff with relative unknown characters like Karnak and Moon Knight.. not that anyone cares:)

** it was Warren Ellis' run on Iron Man that provided the template for the movies,
And the matrix dudes said they lifted the larger themes for their films from The Invisibles

Marvel is definitely being petty with their comic books lately. Like their whole killing of the fantastic 4 and the X Men in recent years...
Oh I wonder why...

I do like that Marvel still has some sense of the comic codes if even slightly..
The hyper violence and disturbing shit in other books is off putting sometimes and way over the top..

I had trouble getting into Luke Cage until about halfway through. Really good at the end.

Luke Cage is really awesome.
I thought this season of Agents Of Shield had a really good portion when they brought in Ghost Rider (Robbie Reyes). The character is pretty cool.

Ghost Rider was awesome...AoS hasn't been as good since they wrapped up that story line. The LMDs are cool and all, and I'm glad Radcliffe is on his quest for mortality and all, but it's just not nearly as interesting right now.
