the Repubs really need to save their core base, lots of which may put up with Trump but dont want him. contrary to belief not all repubs are mindless zealots who will vote for Trump mindlessly.
a legally impeached Trump, that the Repub senate lets stay in office, I dont see itreally helping the Repubs. may keep some voters home who are sickened by Trump but wont vote Dem
voter turn out will be key.. and I suspect it will be giant.. I dont think impeachment will bring out more voters in itself

I don't see how more scandal and illegal activity is helpful for someone. This is bad for trump His base doesn't think Trump did anything illegal (or they just don't care) and that it was Biden/Hillary/Dems who are doing the illegal stuff. The real scandal isn't Trump and his actions to get foreign countries to work on his behalf (or any of the other numerous dodgy actions), it's that the Dems/Deep State/elites are doing everything they can to reverse the results of the 2016 election (which Trump can't stop talking about) and prevent Trump from working to improve the lives of his base. But I hope you're right and this is ultimately bad for Trump.

I dont think Trumps core base is all that big. His win was alot to do with anybody but Hillary vote.. they spent time creating that scenario over years. they wont have it this time around.
and I dont think Trumps actions have broadened his base, shrunk it if anything

^ Indeed...Also, he has turned farmers against him in that they are falling on hard times because of his tariff bullshit. The 'Mr. Dealmaker' was all a bunch of bullshit too..........but we already knew that.

I don't think trump has gained any new support that didn't exist in 2016 and this isn't helping. He has gone and shat on lots of people since then which is going to show up in the vote turnout. Also the second least popular politician to run for president ever, hillary Clinton, won't be running. As long as Biden isn't the democratic candidate I think the dems have this in the bag.

I don't think Trump gained any support since 2016 either. I wouldn't be surprised if those in his base who he's alienated will be cancelled out by those who will punish the Dems for what they see as overreaching - could be an overlap with the 'never Hillary' Trump voters.
To me the bigger story is that no matter whether Trump adds to or loses a few percentage points in his base, is the fact that his base exists and what that says is that no matter electoral outcomes, somewhere around 35-40% of Americans are truly ugly.

Can't really say where those who don't vote or aren't polled fall. Could be they follow the same trend or could make the number of ugly Americans +/- compared to those who only vote and/or are polled. Quien sabe?

"Dems are bulling Pompeo" "They investigated him for two years and found no crimes". They refuse to believe anything but the words coming from his mouth because he's their daddy and they love him.

He was also found guilty of fraud in NY for his "college".
The fact that he hasn't divested his business interests alone should've been enough to impeach him.
Dude's a shameless conman and nothing more.

Even fox news has been critical of him, causing a bit of a civil war at the station. There is so much blatant hypocrisy and lying by scared republican politicians that even fox is calling people out. This is trending well I had heard something about this, but didn't know details until today. It does give me a little hope. Shep Smith is one of the dissenters? Good for him. I'm shocked by that. I didn't realize that Fox had bumped him down to a daytime slot. Definitely gives me some hope. I always thought Chris Wallace seemed pretty reasonable. Glad he is speaking out.

Shep Smith and Chris Wallace have been surprisingly principled lately, props. They have been crushing people. Shep and Tucker Carlson are the ones having an open feud on air, taking turns firing shots on their own shows.

Shep Smith has always been the beacon of light at Fox. That is probably why that beacon of light has always been put on at 3 in the afternoon or whenever the hell he comes on. No way they are letting that dude near primetime....no way. Wallace has been the light and the dark...his old man rubbed off on him just enough to not make him a complete Fox footsoldier.
And with this whole impeachement thing, I concur with whoever said no way 67 votes go down in the Senate to impeach this guy. I think SNL summed up my thoughts this past weekend with this skit.
