my sis and i did the annual go out for chroni's bday dinner last night. little late after the bday this year but saulgood. anywho, we went to a place called 801 chophouse, an upscale steakhouse downtown. they have a handful of locations across the midwest. they even do the old school, bring all the cuts of meat out to your table so you can eye them up thing. i had the 16 oz. bone-in filet with black truffle butter on top, and sides of grilled asparagus, and scalloped cheesy tayters. honestly was a top 3 steak i've ever tasted. the char from the high temp searing, and that butter with the pure flavor of the meat, i've been daydreaming about it today lol. she had the bone-in del monico cut, looked similar to a ribeye, also was tasty af. we each tried each others and agreed that the filet was out of this world though. 10/10 would recommend.

Normally I don’t know what’s in the sausage, and I don’t want to know, but then some fool goes and does something like this and upsets my whole relationship with mystery meat. Seriously? That’s wrong.

It’s raining and dreary and September and I have to keep reminding myself that it’s still going to be hot outside and it’s not really braising season yet. I gave in a little bit and opened a porter.

They tapped a keg of Great Lakes Edmund Fitzgerald porter at the bar and it is definitely too warm outside to be drinking them. I'm pretty happy they chose it and hope it stays as a winter tap.

I tried to drink as much ‘local’ beer as I could while in Illinois. Unfortunately no Great Lakes. All I could find was Elliot Ness and wasn’t feeling an amber.

Yall don't fuck with summer stouts ? Yall.... (In your best broo....) I do not fuck with summer stouts. When the heat index is 105 I’m not trying to drink a stout.
