What is a good but not crazy number money wise that one should use to start investing?
I have me 401k and some stock my ma has for me (I think from her employer she retired from) but have no idea what it is
She hands me a piece of paper round tax time and says make sure you turn this in when you do your taxes

I think somebody in our office worked at Citadel for a while. I remember him talking about giant pay but long hours. Places like that typically have a chef so the traders never have to leave the office to eat.

If you are just having fun, definitely start with something you feel comfortable losing without to much angst.
In the end, long term, the market goes up. Most people wont beat the market by stock picking in the long term, but one never knows.
view it as a fun endeavor, not something to get rich on
