im no financial advisor but the easiest way to diversify is a index fund. given you have it all in growth.. S+P is popular and broad.. Dow is much smaller basket of stocks and the Russel index has far more but if you want to break it up between growth, income or combination you are going to have to determine your risk.. how much you can lose and still make it worth while to be in the market. then you simply allocate say 40% to index fund, 20 to mixed income/growth and say 30 to income and 10 to cash fund(very small return if any) its a puzzle and timeframe to retirement is important factor when calculating risk there are a lot of other more advanced concepts but this is the basics. Yeah my diversification would to my ira and my 401k the most popular gage of the broad market is the S+P 500 index. most often thru a mutual fund, though you can use what they call spiders www.investopedia.com/terms/s/spiders.asp. def some differences between that and an S+P mutual fund. ive traded dow futures vs Diamonds(the dow equivalent of spiders) anyway, i digress the theory is the market in the long run will continue to move upwards so the younger you are the more risk you want to take to accelerate your return and decrease risk as your portfolio builds up and you near retirement. this is the tricky part, time til need money, how much return do you need ect which needs to factor into your allocation. but unless you are mostly in the market you are not going to have very big returns.. interest rates are just to low. you may have the option of a commodity fund which makes it even trickier. i myself only have 50% exposure to the stock market,, prob should have more but i dont want to get smoked and as i said earlier, i just dont want the stress.

I traded after the recession. Got out. I just bought some construction industry stock last summer again. Its a long term thing though. I dont have the resources I once did so I dont have as much freed up. Plus I jambase too much. What platform did you use? take a look at www.thinkorswim.com/t/innovation.htmli was wrong earlier, they were bought out by TD ameritrade

TD ameritrade has multiple platforms. think or swim is has great analytical tools and may be geared towards the frequent trader.
guy next to me also uses Charles Swhab in addition to TD america/think or swim

Trump is so volatile that he could crash the market pretty quick but he is pro business, profit which do drive the market up. i may reduce exposure at dow 22000 agreed. its a lot of effort which i like to avoid and not sure if ill retire, for sure not early, i live now to the fullest,, i do have some loot in retirement and my wife is 14 years younger than me.. my retirement plan:)

I just use a financial planner.. it's intriguing, but not my bag at this point in life..
I think real estate is better investment overall if willing to put in the work

i've gotten a bit into trading these last few months. some i've hit, others i've missed, and overall up a bit. nothing life changing obviously, but a little extra spending money here and there never hurt anyone.
i've just been using robinhood to have an easy interface to use.
with all that said, STONKS!

What stock has done the best for you? I dabbled a while back made a good bit on under armour, and GW Pharma. I need to get back into it. I was using Meryl lynch to do my trading but I would be interested to hear how you like Robinhood chronicircle

I was using Meryl lynch to do my trading but I would be interested to hear how you like Robinhood chronicircle most profitable was zoom, i bought in right after lockdowns in march, doubled my money by june, and sold off. probably should have held, as it continues to climb now. d'oh! also i threw some money in sorrento therapeutics, after the initial price spike it saw in May due to a news story that they were developing a covid vaccine. they are doing other things on the covid front too like testing and tracing, which is why i think that one continues to climb. it would have been sick if i bought in before the price spike on that one... robinhood is pretty basic. its good to use to get my feet wet. i think eventually i can see myself moving to a different platform thats a bit more detailed, but robinhood is super easy to use. and it links your bank account seamlessly (i'm sure some other platforms do that) but i thought it was pretty slick i didn't even need a card or a blank check with my account info to get funded and set up.

I do it, but it hasn't been good to me.
I think my account has less than it did almost 2 years ago.
I constantly loose money freak out and sell then it's back and above a month later.
I would be much better off holding apple/visa for 3 years than buying and selling the same ones all the time.

Should have bought Tesla at 200 a few month ago. It's at 1500 today.
Doesn't even make sense. That stock has seen major swings.
I dont usually bet against any, but Tesla could go down to 500 again
