Billy was paid for that interview. IMO, that invalidates pretty much the whole doc. Against journalism ethics for sure. uh what no it's not... dude watch the movie. He says his side and then they show a bunch of stuff about how he's a liar... he avoids a lot of questions. Interviewing the person who is accused is what a journalist is supposed to do. They did not do him any favors and like frodo said he was foolish to think it was going to come out as positive press for him.

Whoa, back up a second. PAYING him for the interview is against Journalism Ethics. I know it to be true because they said it on NPR on Friday.

Netflix paid the promoters, Fuck Jerry, to work on their film because they are insiders and they left out a lot of details that make them look bad. Hulu didnt leave out information because the producers were in a much more neutral and position of higher journalistic integrity. Basically its three guys from the marketing behind firm who are still in business, and the Hulu one gets their information from the fourth guy who was the lead on the project but quit that firm after Fyre because they are shady.

Thrilling response. Which one are you going to watch, or both.

I don't have Hulu, so if anything, I'll watch the one on Netflix. I'll be honest though that I probably won't watch either of them.

When you consider the Bahamians that are out tens or even hundreds of thousands of dollars, paying anybody involved with this even more money just to tell the story does seem like its paying more into the sick publicity machine. Hey that's showbusiness, baby.

I usually don’t ever want to take joy in others misfortunes, but if you paid 13 grand thinking you were going to party with Kendall Jenner and Bella Hadid on a private island, like this guy.... ...well, bahahahahahahahahahaha Those girls get $250k just to post on instagram. He’s in both docs. People like him, emptying their bank accounts to be a part of this “experience” really don’t deserve sympathy. They were trying to portray themselves as ballers, not trying to appreciate art and music.

Pretty much everyone involved deserves exactly what they got and that's a good enough for me?
The only people who really got taken advantage of, the islanders, are starting to see compensation through GoFundMe or whatever.
Billy is just another Jordan Belfort.

Clif Bar notes: Netflix doc is a damning account of the festival creator and his serial frauds, and the Hulu doc is extremely critical of social media's influence on people's spending power which the Fyre festival creator exploited. The real victims are the Bahamians and other workers who haven't been paid, ticket purchasers and attendees, and defrauded investors who were misled through falsified financial documents and outright lies. The festival creator was sentenced to 6 years in prison.

I know there are a million documentaries about a million trivial things but I'm kinda surprised at how much traction this story has. 2 documentaries? Is it really that interesting?
