I love when there's a reason for this thread to get bumped.
I hope Netflix makes this available in my neck of the woods as well.

I love this story so much! I can't help but fantasize about a hostel type horror movie loosely based on Fyre Festival. did anyone see that one with Eli Roth where the earthquake hits a festival and also breaks a hole in a prison and sadistic inmates escape and fuck shit up hard? Oh damn that movie sucks but Eli Roth could really have fun with the Fyre. I think that one is called Aftershock. I love how the girl gets away at the end. The girl doesn’t get away at the end of Aftershock!

Instead of that festival they have in dover and call Firefly, they should change the name to fyrefly.

This kid I went to school with is working for some label now and was saying how his company represents a bunch of artists on the firefly lineup. I just saw his post (and the lineup). I simply want to post as a comment:
Fyrefly
Really, really bad.

I watched it last night. Definitely a con man who meant well but he clearly has no idea how to manage investor money. I thought the insight (or lack thereof) into booking musicians was interesting. Jah Rule's part in the swindle was largely absent in the film even though he was the music industry connection.

Ja Rule seems like an imbecile.
The denial all the way to the end was staggering

I was kind of surprised nobody, not even the Festival Consultant/Yoga Teacher, insisted when this was initially being planned that what was being attempted was impossible to do given the location and the amount of time until the festival started. It's like no one on their staff had ever worked a festival before.
They made a nice video/commercial though. Got a bunch of people to drop $$$ and sell the thing out in a couple of days.
I'd like to see the Hulu doc for comparison, though I hear it's the lesser of the two.

And all of those tech people who worked on the app (which the festival was going to promote) who got suckered as well.
I read how Ja Rule started a company based on the original idea for a book your own music app. The company is called Iconn - I guess for connection. I keep reading it 'I con.'

Wow, Ja Rule couldn't come off worse.
McFarland definitely deserved some prison time.

Watching Hulu one now... it has a more editorial style whereas the Netflix movie has a more straightforward documentary style because the information is presented in a more matter of fact manner. However, the Hulu one has Billy telling his side of the story.

I was watching last night with this girl and after the part with the blowjob she was permanently repulsed by that guy that was going to do it. She couldn't stand the sight of him. Funny for me.

Hulu pic is showing the social media element of this in a way that makes a lot more sense than the Netflix pic and how it is the mechanism for perpetuating this guy's pyramid schemes

The bombshell Hulu's "Fyre Fraud" is trying to show us is that the other documentary is produced by the same media group involved with Fyre and the festival's PR "media blitz". It shows us that the other doc has left out some important information perhaps to shift the narrative onto Billy and to keep their own businesses moving while attempting to avoid negative press.

I watched both. Neither were great, and I didn’t really learn anything I hadn’t read, but I think the Hulu one was better and Billy is a moron for agreeing to be interviewed.

Billy was paid for that interview. IMO, that invalidates pretty much the whole doc. Against journalism ethics for sure.
