you're already helping them by giving them something for free...but you're right, we should do whatever we want. I have accepted all hand me downs that family has given me, thank god my aunt and uncle have a 4 year old daughter, but I have had to pick everything up, which I didn't mind doing at all since I've gotten all the stuff for free

Right. Dan should do whatever he thinks is best. I just know I've never once regretted going out of my way to help someone, especially a parent, even more so a fellow single parent. (except the time I gave all of Chase's clothes to my brother and his wife for their boys and she sold everything at a garage sale. i was fucking pissed that day. i would have preferred she pass them on to someone else that could use them.) Doing that kind of thing is SO wrong. That's the only kind of thing that holds me back from giving away things. People can be greedy and shit, but more often than not they do mean the best. Selling things online also brings out the people looking for "bargains", they'll agree to one price and then change it when you show up. That kind of nonsense.

i give money to the homeless.
just gave away 4 big bags of clothes to the salvation army.
giving and helping is rewarding on a far deeper level then consuming

Guys, guys, guys
Not everyone can have mom and dad pay for house and cover bills in a crunch provide free child care and so on
How dare she 1 ask for anything for free or 2 help to get the free things
Oh no what I mentioned wasn't free it costs my parents money

I rarely give money to the homeless, i'd rather not support someones habit. there are regulars that I've seen before who i have feel more willing to give money once i get to know them a little bit, but i'm not trying to support a habit. I also can't stand the druggies in Chicago that hit you up asking for a couple bucks because "I just gotta get on the bus man!"

I see multiple homeless people every day. Same dudes panhandle on my way home every day. It sucks and if they're honest i'd be more inclined to pay them, but i have given plenty of money to homeless people before, i'd rather not support their habits anymore
I remember we were out with some friends a couple summers ago at a nice Steak house and my wife took half her steak to go. We decided to walk to some bar and a homeless guy stopped us and asked if we had money, my wife offered him a steak and he turned it down, said he wasn't hungry...no one threw him any cash after that

Now you're thinking! What kind of work does your .22 need? the firing pin doesn't always line up right and it misfires. At least that was the problem the last time I fired it which might have been 15 years ago. They said they would clean it up and get it working right for like 60 bucks. Probably has a weak spring or something. Idk much about how guns actually work. I have one that did the same thing... an old rifle my dad gave me. The barrel was loose so it was solved by disassembly and tightening.

There are a bunch of homeless in Albany, usually hang around the Bus Station, twice when picking up my lady at the bus station I've had dudes knock on my window asking for change. The homeless also hang right off the the exit a ton of state workers use to get into work.
I'm like DPB in that I almost never have cash. I'll toss them a buck or some change if i have enough to get by/be comfortable.

Since becoming a dad I've noticed parents, and how they treat their kids, around me a lot more. Just on Saturday there was a couple with their daughter at the show, she could have been no older than 4-5 and it was towards the end of the show, it looked like the father was yelling at her because she was tired and wanted to go home. The wife and I were pretty disgusted. I just never want to take my daughter to a concert, especially one like that, until she's older and more mature and knows what she's getting into. I also never want to be the father that needs to make a scene in public nor do I ever want my daughter to feel like she's not loved or have a strong father in her life. Regardless what happens between the wife and I, which doesn't seem like anything will happen, I will always make sure i'm in my daughters life as much as possible just gonna let this sit here for a minute..... VERY telling imo, worth a reread.

Because Mommy isn't capable of taking care of herself she and my kids will undoubtedly be shacking up with the next chump about an hour and a half after our divorce is final. Not too psyched about it... Is he a good dude, at least? I have no idea. Could be a multitude of dudes currently. I just know that her whole life she's either lived at home with her mother (where they currently are) or with whomever she is "seeing" at the time. She was living with a dude when I met her... shocking how things transpired isn't it? Now obviously adding two little kids to the package is a whole new ballgame but she does "damsel in distress" very well and as you know she's physically attractive so... I'm preparing myself I guess.

And when you're in the wealthiest area in the city and someone is offering leftovers I don't see how you turn them down if you are homeless and probably struggle with getting to regularly eat. It was a nice gesture from my wife and he, kind of, rudely, turned it down

Some humility, you're giving him LEFTOVERS.
Maybe if it was an untouched meal or some shit. You had the best intentions but leftovers aren't so trust worthy.
