The Disney Plus angle has brought in a whole other level of saturation. I am still enjoying the Marvel world but being a casual comic book guy growing up, they are definitley entering into a phase geared towards really big fans of the Marvel comic universe. I am not going to become that guy so all I can hope for are entertaining characters chosen out of that vast universe of choices and continue the weaving between the movies and a build up to an Endgame like conclusion. Having said all that, no more Thor movies. I realized watching Love and Thunder what I already knew and that is I enjoy that character much more in the ensemble movies. First Marvel movie I can say I watched where I walked out just indifferent about it all….Natalie Portman, 👎. Christian Bale, way underused. Korg is born from two dudes now instead of when he talked about a Mom and sister. Entirely too many attempts to be a comedy…..I won’t say it sucked, but indifference is the word I guess.

...unlike Umphreys, which were never cool. (j/k) Let's take a moment to tap into what the youth thinks is cool. I played this just because I refused to believe it was the same as Dance Monkey Dance, which I think is just Boatman’s Dance with different lyrics. It is in fact not the same.

I understand everyone's opinion on the current mcu. Overall I'm still enjoying it but I'm less excited about upcoming projects than ever. Also, wandavision and Loki were fantastic

I'm wrong because I'm predicting that eventually people will stop caring about super hero movies? Maybe but only time will tell. I know I'm starting to slowly get sick of it and I'm sure I'm not the only one

I know I'm starting to slowly get sick of it and I'm sure I'm not the only one People have been saying this same thing for a decade, "they'll go the way of the western". It's not the case, the movies have been big sellers for close to two decades. They've been around since the 70s.

Weren't Westerns really popular for more than two decades? I don't give a shit, but Greg isn't the only one saying that there is too much of this content out there.

Weren't Westerns really popular for more than two decades? I don't give a shit, but Greg isn't the only one saying that there is too much of this content out there. This. Westerns never really left. They just got morphed into Sci-Fi. Once the West was all discovered and used up as a unique setting they just moved the frontier/stories out to space to fit in the times of the Space Age. The genre changed settings, but the theme and archetypes remained. Outlaws, lone gunmen standing alone against the enemy, New Frontiers, etc. 'Outland' is basically a remake of 'High Noon' in outer space. 'Star Trek' 'Guardians of the Galaxy' 'Alien' 'Cowboy Bebop' 'Firefly' - the list goes on. I don't give a shit either, but I figure there's the hard core comic fans who will always love the movies no matter that they start getting samey or completely fall off, and then there's the person like myself who doesn't give a shit but likes to see something new - like the MCU once was. Problem for the latter is once the newness wears off. Good news for the former is that there's a seemingless endless supply of characters. I think the MCU's done a pretty good job of creating an intertwined universe while still making their movies work as standalones. But I wonder how long they can keep that going before the movies start getting so that it becomes harder to know what's going on if you don't watch most of them or they just start to become too cookie cutter with a some minor elements changed. There's complaints now that they're not the kind of movies a director places their stamp on, but instead directors have to make the movies fit the Marvel Studios way. I read about how the whole industry and our way of watching movies is changing or has changed. Box-office expectations and budgets are so high that a movie has to make a Billion dollars to be profitable so only movies with blockbuster potential will be produced and exhibited in theaters. Average dramas, comedies and anything with a more modest budget will be relegated to streaming services and all you'll see at the multiplex is the same three or four movies on all 18 screens. Lot more people watching entertainment from the comfort of their home on a 50" and going to movies only for big movies that play well on a big screen. So who knows what the next big thing'll be. Maybe it'll just keep being the same superhero movie recycled with different actors wearing the same motion capture sensors playing slightly different characters in different costumes in front of different green screens with CGI added by the same companies that do all of the movies. I guess horror will always work since the budgets can be kept low, they make for good teenage date movies, and if they hit they can return huge profits. My guess is Hollywood keeps riding the superhero wave for as long as it works for them and once the publics tastes change they'll change right along with them - kind of like the music industry.

Comic books and their movies are kind of like first tier jambands. Fans will get excited about the smallest things, note the obscurest of details about what's played, make a big deal about where exactly a tease is placed during a set, drool over stats, posters, the color of Mike's nail polish, etc., while the average music fan who isn't into jambands but might catch Phish when they roll into town if it's convenient or their friend have an extra might enjoy themselves, but don't give nearly as many fucks as we do.

Hot fucking take. Fwiw I LOVE most of the marvel movies and I've seen all of them with the exception of the last dr strange but the same cookie cutter storylines can only be so popular for so long.

^clearly doesn't know what a soap opera is
Those story lines are rinsed and repeated for decades, and they ain't goin no where
Neither is marvel, especially with Disney pockets paying for it all

I'm not saying they're going away. I'm saying their popularity will fade. Eventually people will stop caring about all these superheros
