I don't believe Greg said they were going away, just that they would become less popular. Sure General Hospital has been on for 50 years, but if it was that popular it would be on in primetime. They will keep making these movies until the oversaturation causes the numbers to fall. They will still make the big ones but then cut back on the shit like Nephew of Ant Man.

I'm stoked for Nephew of Ant Man that could be just the revival needed to breathe freshness back into this oversaturated franchise

It's kind of like Seth Rogan....I love the guy but at some point playing the same loveable stoner gets old. I will keep watching for now but I found I'm not as into it as I was even a couple years ago. Infinity war/end game would have been a perfect way to end the cinematic universe.

The thing with soap operas is that even their fans will tell ya that you really only need to watch on Monday and Friday because nothing really happens Tuesday through Thursday.
Pretty sure long before they became movies the comic industry discovered they just have to put a different person in the costume, set the whole thing in an alternate dimension, etc. They were recycling, remaking, and re-imaging existing characters and storylines long before Hollywood discovered the practice. They'll never run short of material and likely have a large enough fan base that they can keep crankin' 'em out for a long time, but eventually the casual fan will become bored, confused, or move on to other genres. Or they'll just eat Hollywood entirely and somehow make every movie into a superhero movie.

Disney will suck every marketable penny out of it and then toss it aside for a couple decades until the nostalgia revival AKA when the kids grow up and have money and families

The only soap I ever watched was General Hospital, during the early 80's Luke and Laura craze. Some girl I was trying to make time with was completely into it so I'd hang with her and friends while they watched and kind of sort of got a wee bit into it myself. All I remember is there was something about an island and some dude named Scorpio. Nothing ever really happened with me and the girl and I went back to spending more time with my stoner buds. What a sap I was.

^clearly doesn't know what a soap opera is Those story lines are rinsed and repeated for decades, and they ain't goin no where Neither is marvel, especially with Disney pockets paying for it all And worldwide audiences being more important than ever.

I'd go to the theater to see Ant Man's Nephew vs Scorpio, co-starring Eva Longoria as Ant Man's nephew's hot neighbor/boss/whatever where it gets revealed she has some rockin' super powers of her own.
