So 'The Marvels' bombed on its opening weekend and it seems all reviews are weak. I know i've been saying for years, now, that MCU has been jumping the shark and it seems we may be finally moving away from the blockbuster super hero movie phase.
With that being said, we watched Guardians of the Galaxy Vol III, 2-3 weeks ago and i thought it was great! Really enjoyed it and next to Deadpool it's probably my favorite super hero movie series.

The mightiest of superheroes got their asses kicked by.....Barbie.
Just hasn't been the same for Marvel since they killed Thanos, but they had a nice long run and made of ton of money so I don't think anybody can feel too sad for them.

I've enjoyed what I've seen from marvel since he died but it's felt all over the place. I'm ready for the new avengers movies to start coming out, hopefully that will bring things together. |

I've heard it's better than most of them have been lately. GOTG is so distinctly James Gunns that I really hope they just leave them alone for a while now. I think Marvel flooded their market a bit and has to do damage control for the first time in a long time but it's not all doom and gloom for them. Deadpool 3 is the next thing up (I'd have reservations about it due to being made right in the middle of two strikes. Hopefully they'll iron out the issues in the coming months) Im glad Oppenheimer and Barbie did well, it shows the market is looking well made movies that stick out a bit. It cant all be the big Disney stuff/F&F sequels & spin-offs. I do wish Netflix had focused more on filmmakers like David Fincher and had not invested so much in Ryan Murphy's dogshit and awful superhero adaptations. There's plenty of room in the market/demand for those kinds of $60-80 million dollar movies that just don't get made anymore by studios. |

I saw The Marvels. I enjoyed it. Like Pete said, Marvel is having to rethink some things because of how the Disney Plus stuff hasn’t panned out the way they thought. They saturated everybody because the pandemic broke the momentum they had after Endgame. I think the real issue they are having is this whole multiverse/Kang/all the rest storyline that should be building up to a big conclusion like Thanos is being fleshed out in a more uneven way. I trust they know what they are doing and it will all come together and I will be as excited for those concluding movies as I was for the Thanos story. I am still enjoying the ride.

Disney+ is getting shuttered and merging with Hulu. That will probably throw another wrench in the continuity.

They might be getting rid of Kang storylines entirely now. Probably better to have Doctor Doom be the next big bad.

And Doctor Doom was the baddest mf'er in the Marvel Universe back in the day. It is odd how he's been an afterthought thru all of this (except for hideous FF.)

That was done intentionally because Marvel didn't own his movie rights for a long time and they wanted to make Thanos more prominent. They're still figuring out the MCU FF movie, casting Dr. Doom isn't an easy task. |
