Be safe, bear. Music can be a dangerous business. Just ask John K. who risks his life every time he goes out on ter.

Also, be careful tasting 9V batteries to see if they still have any juice left.

Just finished a stupid complicated mod on my bass. I have a body made of out cherry that already had a rear rout for 4 controls with the jack on the side. So naturally I decided to wire it up like a Les Paul with a volume and tone control for each pickup. I used a Tone Emporium Precision bass pickup because they are cheap and sound great with the original 50s style alnico magnet poles. Next I got a Dimarzio Ultra Jazz which is a humbucker because single coil hum is lame. But when I was looking up diagrams I couldn't find one that fit what I was doing so I had to make my own. The Ultra Jazz can be wired with a push/pull series paralell switch so of course I'm going to try it and see what it sounds like. Humbuckers are wired in series so switching to parallel make its quieter and a little more subdued. And then I stumbled on the series/paralell wiring for both pickups together. Again, series will boost the output. Heck yes I want that. Long story short i had to rewire it like four times because i messed up the grounding, I thought it was the neck pickup that was reversed, then it was out of phase so i had to revert it, then I had to reverse the switch because I wanted series to be default and pull for parallel, and now I finally got it right after like 8 hours. And it sounds and works good so I can sell it because it's too heavy... the whole bass weighs 10 lbs and I would rather have one under 9.

those 70s strats are notoriously heavy. i have a heavy tele but i tolerate it because i love the way it sounds. im jonesin for a hardtail strat still though. a light one. also the 70s acoustic amp i got really brought my pizeo bass to life. the low strings dont sound as good through my modern class D Gallien-Kruger 250w bass amp. and i rediscovered the fat jazz bridge pickup tone of my regular bass, so i kinda lost the bass bug for the moment. i might even sell the Gibson because the single pole pickups do a terrible job of sensing note bends. but that's another story because i might restore it if i can call around and get the correct, novel switch they used.
phishmann you get those tubes in yet?
