I got one of these on reverb for a very reasonable price. I think I like the Hawaiian better, though.

It reminds me of a Devi Ever/Fuzz Goddess with the simple controls and big range of sounds. I'd love to play one. It's a great concept: input level, voltage to silicon transistors, and output.

What are the differences between tones?
If someone said this is a premium tone and this is a lively tone I'd be like "yeah, ok, uhuh..." not really having a clue what they meant.

I don't know what that means either! What's the context, like what sound or instrument? Usually when I think of describing a tone it starts with light or dark to refer to how much treble content it has (brightness), or references another set of known historical tones, like reedy to describe something resembling a woodwind instrument, or brassy for horn-like tones.

I woke up first today so I squeezed a couple hours in on the 5F1 circuit Champ amp. I soldered the leads from the board and the power transformer. Another couple hours and hopefully I'll be done.

It's alive! The amp worked on the first try. And its loud as heck for only 5 watts. Total time spent looking and diagrams and soldering it was about 10 hours, but I had an different output transformer than the kit so I had to figure out how to mount it and make the right connections. I fired it up for 2 minute intervals one tube at a time and took voltage measurements like the instructions said and everything was normal so I started rocking out! I was thinking about building a 12 watt after this but man I don't even feel the need to anymore because this thing roars.

I hooked up that stray wire and didn't get any sound out of it anymore and I thought it stopped working but I just forgot to plug in the speaker. Right as rain
