Maybe it'd be helpful to define what it is science is, and isn't:

also need definition for "cool science"
coldest places on earth definitely qualifies for that.

www.telegraph.co.uk/news/science/6546462/The-10-weirdest-physics-facts-from-relativity-to-quantum-physics.htmlquantum physics is so fun!!!!
All the matter that makes up the human race could fit in a sugar cube
Atoms are 99.9999999999999 per cent empty space. As Tom Stoppard put it: "Make a fist, and if your fist is as big as the nucleus of an atom, then the atom is as big as St Paul's, and if it happens to be a hydrogen atom, then it has a single electron flitting about like a moth in an empty cathedral, now by the dome, now by the altar."
If you forced all the atoms together, removing the space between them, crushing them down so the all those vast empty cathedrals were compressed into the first-sized nuclei, a single teaspoon or sugar cube of the resulting mass would weigh five billion tons; about ten times the weight of all the humans who are currently alive.
Incidentally, that is exactly what has happened in a neutron star, the super-dense mass left over after a certain kind of supernova.

pretty neat.. anxiety is a big thing for lots of people
Anxiety Pathway on a Molecular Level Discovered Our findings have opened up a new direction for research into the mechanisms of anxiety," Dr. Panayotis says. "If we understand exactly how the circuitry that we’ve discovered controls anxiety, this may help develop new drugs, or direct the use of existing ones, to alleviate its symptoms."
Says Prof. Fainzilber: "Current drugs for anxiety are limited in their efficacy or have undesirable side effects, which also limit their usefulness. Our findings may help overcome these limitations. In follow-up research, we have already identified a number of drug candidates that target the newly discovered pathway."
The study’s findings also shed new light on rare genetic disorders characterized by mutations in the MeCP2 gene: Rett syndrome and MeCP2 duplication syndrome. Both these disorders are characterized by anxiety, among other symptoms. Identifying the precise mechanisms responsible for the entry of MeCP2 into neurons’ nuclei may, in the future, help develop therapies for these two disorders.

It would be nice if cool science could develop some kind of synthetic material for roads that is anti erosive. Pot holes have got to be imo one of the bigger pain in the asses. Roads around my new place are horrible and everyday my car just takes a beating. I'm picturing a material that is rubber like but grippy and weather adaptable when it comes to rain and snow. And holds up against pot holes for....oh lets say....10 years or so.
