But the most glaringly suspicious fact in the story/painting/ideology is that out of 13 of em, they're all male.
As if Thekla & the Marys, etc were not sitting right there alongside those 13

When I was a kid I had to go to Catholic version of 'Sunday School.' It doubly sucked because not only did I have to go, but it was Saturday mornings, 9-12 from what I remember, while a bunch of my friends were doing normal Saturday morning kid stuff and I wasn't.
So I started getting a bit rebellious about the whole thing. I had a friend of mine set me up by asking the teacher if she knew what I.N.R.I. on the crucifix meant. Teacher said she didn't know but would ask one of the nuns or priests and let us know next week. I enthusiastically stuck my hand up and said I knew.
"It stands for 'I'm Nailed Right In.'"
That got me laughs and sent to the nuns who suspended me (fine by me). My dad laughed, but he deferred religious stuff to my mom. Mom wasn't pleased, but she was on her way out of Catholicism at that point so it soon blew over and I got my Saturday mornings back.
