Hikers can post about their hikes here, sorta like the beer thread but for hiking...
I found a trail near me that I'm planning on hiking. The Lone Star Hiking Trail, its the only national hiking trail in Texas 96.1 miles through mostly Sam Houston National Forest.

Back in June when I went up to Maine to climb Katahdin I met a dude who was starting a southbound AT thru hike. He had climbed Katahdin that day. We chilled by his fire for the night and I split a growler of double IPA with him as he told me what to expect from Katahdin when I climbed it the next morning, and I told him about hiking in Shenandoah.
It's now three months later, and the dude is still on the AT, hasn't given up, and has reached Virginia. I'm meeting up with him in Shenandoah on saturday and will split another growler with him and listen to his stories from three months on the AT alone. Will give him a proper welcome to VA and a proper send off to GA as he completes the second half of the AT.

Cool story, toys. Yeah I was meaning to ask you if you had done the whole AT through. I've hiked a few parts of it back in the early 80's when I was still in Jersey we used to go up to NY to buy beer because the drinking age was only 18 still, then we would go up to High Point and hangout on the AT, have camp fires and get fucked up.

I just woke up and had to pick a tick off my waistband area, sucks
heading up to the mountains this morning for a lttle hiking then back down to the piedmont near where I live for a little more hiking.
no JB on days like these, but I think its a pretty decent tradeoff as far as work goes

toys - if you are heading out that way through Sperryville (Rt 211)check out Penn Druid Brewery. Its next to the distillery. They just opened a month or so ago. Pretty sweet spot to have a beer after a hike and the beers are good. I may be out that way tomorrow and/or Saturday. www.pendruid.com/

Hiking is great. I frequently hike from my house to my garage to get my bike before a ride.
