It's a nerve wracking process for sure, but be thankful to some degree that this is true.
The median home price of a home in the Rochester area went up 5.6 percent to just over $147,000.
That’s still less than half the national median price for a home.

Median home in my city is 400+
I was actually lucky to find a decent condo for half that. My experience seemed to be total luck and super easy. I have been looking for fun since I got it and haven't found a single comp that's anywhere close

said:300K in my burb. I keep my eye on craftsman and bungalos in strict boundaries for 175k or less. I prefer 150 or less and dont really look at condos right now, only stand alones. Smaller, simpler homes I assume would be simpler to manage maintenance wise. After living in a one bedroom for so long, not to mention a studio for a while. I'm all about a 2 br 1 ba! It's easy for me since i dont have to consider children, and even if i do at any point soon it wouldn't be more than 2 ever.
Still, too much prep for me to take the plunge right now. Really need a long term plan set and savings ongoing to feel like I can make the move.
