I honestly dont mind renting long as it's a fair proposition
Where we live now def not fair, last house I lived in with X was a fair shake with a good land lord
With that said their ain't much worth rentin round these parts and what most people ask for somethin that would be nice to rent , just ain't worth it

Personally I don't think you'll find a house that nothing will go wrong with for ten years. On the other hand buying new with a warrentee might be the way to go. The number one thing with buying any property is to check out the hood. If you wont fit in in that hood find another.

Pre foreclosure listings , what's the deal with them? It means its distressed. The bills have not been paid but the bank hasn't gotten around to the foreclosure yet. The owner is attempting to short sell in order to pay off the loan and save their credit. If you're interested in it beware it will probably be an auction and you'll have to pay the outstanding mortgage so you need a lot of dough.

The house next door to the house I grew up in was one of those cases. Sat empty for a while and it's in a neighborhood were that didn't happen often (Good school district and around the corner from a pretty nice park). My brother in law, a contractor, looked around the place when it wasn't being sold and said it would take 10's of thousands just to make the place livable again. The bank eventually did fix the place up a bit before selling it.

you can find some awesome deals on foreclosed properties but i would shy away from them. my friend got their house for pennies on the dollar basically. however the process is going to take longer with everything. and buying a house is already a pretty long process as it is...
