Many schools in my area are closing down next week and some for the next two weeks.

Strangely, 2/3 of the weeks that schools are closed were my kid's spring break anyway. That extra week though...oof. We never used any snow days this year though, so we should actually be okay.

Doesn't look like jazz fest has canceled yet. It is more than a month off but stuff's being canceled that far off.

Locally schools have spring break next week, but they are going to be closed an additional week after that.
Everyone has lost their damn minds at the grocery stores.
Do we need to dust off some of the old WWII rationing policies?

Americans don't really do 'sacrifice' anymore, like our (great/grand)parents generation did back during WWII.
I remember during post 9/11 and the following Iraq War that the message from the government wasn't to ration and conserve, but to increase consumption. Also zero talk of sacrifice to pay for or supply materials for the war, just borrow from China to pay for it.

Checked my school email to see if any updates, etc...Mon and Tues are still Pro. Development days. Nice. All schools are closed even public now and we are watching some teachers tell us about being teachers on Tuesday. Jfc.
We do Google Classrooms for Middle and Upper so we will do that. I made sure I saw them put all their stuff they will need for me directly in their backpacks...bc they will try to get home and say..."I dont have my novel, Study Guide, and Vocab booooook."
Yes you do sir...I watched you walk out the door with it. Lulz.
Lower we are going to have to make packets...agh...so much copy paper. Something tells me most of that will come back not done, but I guess we are obligated..although we dont give zeros. They have to do it..no option with that at our school..bc all of them would take zeros more often than not.
I really should try to limit my posts ..lol..I talk a lot in class and all day..so I guess I do here too.

Also they said to be prepared to be out 2 weeks..not sure yet whether that is extremely bad news yet...not getting paid..or I have 2 weeks to do hobby shit.
Private is not like govt supported schools and we are non-profit.

Guv'na ordered all schools shut down in NC. We have to go to two days of PD and arranging for distance learning. We are literally the only school in NC that will be having people in it. That's nice.
I'm sure it'll go smoothly teaching 10 Asperger, ADHD, and OCD Middle Schoolers that are hard to manage even in a classroom environment... over the computer...fun.
Hoping for the best.

My brother is an elementary school principal in Cabarrus County and from what I was seeing online they were staying open, but with canceled sports, field trips, community group use of school facilities, etc.. Just got off the horn with my moms and she said his school is cancelled for two weeks.

Couple cases here..havent looked lately..The governor ordered them all closed ..sooo not sure if they have to follow that. Seems like they would. He just announced it this afternoon so idk.

My mom lives with my brother and his 8 year old and twin 6 year old daughters so I'm happy to see the germ factories schools are closed in NC.
We only have 38 confirmed cases in the whole country and 2 in Arequipa and they already closed the schools a few days ago in addition to quarantining people coming from Europe. It's nice to be in a country where the concern is about the safety of the people and not at all about scoring political points.
